Awwww man! Just recorded a GREAT episode of @elephpant with @bierer_doug about his PHP 8 book, PHP8 and PHP 8.1! Can't wait to share it with y'all! :)
Just learning again: Don't depend on vendor implementations. Replacing interfaces or classes from vendor deep inside your own domain is such a pain. Try to convert from vendor to your domain on an early level, so that if you need to change it, it effects only a single spot.

I compared frameworks with kitchens once. You need a bit time to find the right cooking tools in one the many kitchen cupboards and learn how the oven and other devices behave. But you still need to know how to cook. No kitchen can teach you that.

Due to the precision of our launch and our first two mid-course corrections, our team has determined that Webb should have enough fuel to allow support of science operations for significantly more than a 10-year science lifetime! 💫 blogs.nasa.gov/webb/2021/12/…

For all those people who missed it last December: This article is still just as relevant today with PHP 8.1 And believe me, when I said I felt tired last year, I'm totally and utterly exhausted by now and PHP 8.1 hasn't even been released yet. 24daysindecember.net/2020/12…

1/ A quick explainer on what happened with the infrastructure bill last night: We were on track to pass the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey amendment to fix the worst issues with the bill, & then Senators @RobPortman & @MarkWarner came from nowhere to blow it up. Now the vote's tomorrow 👇

Here's the thing: frontend engineers who specialize in accessibility are often treated like they practice a small subset of the frontend, instead of a superset of it. a11y specialists synthesize all of the ~standard~ frontend skills with a host of others. 1/5

While growing a following here is nice, it means very little to me knowing my account could at any time get suspended or banned. Followers on #hive on the other hand are immutable and I know there's no manipulation happening or risk of losing them cause of a centralized platform.

In a startup, one of the greatest feelings of satisfaction when one of your users actually takes the time to write to you to tell you that they saved time and reduced their stress by using what you've helped build!

Everyone hates being misjudged. I find that Curiosity-over-Judgment (?/!) is valuable here. Decide not to *assign* motivations and intentions to others, but ask them instead. It's a small thing that makes a huge difference.
