My painfully closeted 14-year-old gay boy self would never have believed he’d one day write about two things so very intricately bound to his identity – queerness and @MariahCarey – for The New York Times. And yet!!

Based on rave reviews like this one by Chris Azzopardi @chrisazzopardi, 'Griffin in Summer' could be in the running for several GALECA's Dorian Awards. It's now out on VOD following a quiet theatrical release. nytimes.com/2025/08/28/movie…
Hello? Are there still queer writers out there in the X abyss?? Wherever you are, I'm commissioning stories for these issues: February: Sex/Love Issue (Deadline: Jan. 13). March: Home Guide & Music Issue (Deadline: Jan. 29). June: Pride Issues—3 editions! (Deadline: Feb. 19).
In addition to these themes, we’re also wide open to general LGBTQ-related stories and fresh ideas for the new year — anything queer, Michigan-based and relevant!

"When Cyndi Lauper performed 'True Colors' near the end, a man behind me wept, and I wondered if he was crying because he, too, remembered the first time he heard that song and felt its embrace," writes @chrisazzopardi.

Lukas Gage got on a video call with me yesterday to talk about queer sex representation, thirsty "Smile 2" viewers and what drives him to his offbeat roles. Thoughtful, smart and not at all creepy!

They just played “Cruel Summer” at the Harris-Walz ‘24 rally in Detroit. I’m taking that as the official Taylor endorsement.
Hi, LGBTQ+ writers! I've got my eye on my inbox for some great queer pitches that run the gamut from political to pop culture (but always with a Michigan hook!). Priority right now — out-of-box pitches (by July 21 pls!) for our special Arts Issue + also Travel. More info below!

"Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution" is an excellent examination of comedy as catharsis but also as an agent for social change. My review, for
@nytimes.

Just a day after his inspiring performance of "Hell Together" on @AmericanIdol, I spoke with @DavidArchie about his empowering journey the last few years — moving on from the church, coming out and then finding a new community who loves him for who he is.

There are many must-read moments from my conversation with @kathygriffin that demonstrate how sharply and darkly comedic she still is, but what I really ate up was the shade she threw at me for BREATHING during it.

I just realized just how easy it is to slip up in an email and write something that is VERY MUCH NOT WHAT I WANTED TO SAY when I went to write "I look forward to hearing from you!" and instead almost wrote "I look forward to healing from you!"
