🌊 Protecting Chesapeake Bay starts at its headwaters in New York State!
Last week, EPA and the @chesbayprogram visited a farmer in Chenango Forks, NY. Together, they discussed the best practices she installed on her farm to improve and protect water quality and nearby habitats.

A watershed – the land area that drains to one stream, lake or river – affects the water quality in the water body that it surrounds. Healthy watersheds provide many benefits to ecosystems:
💧 nutrient cycling
💧 erosion control
💧 water storage and filtration
💧 flood control

Thanks for having us @ShoreRivers!
Last year was a great year for the Choptank. The river received "B" grade for water quality & living resources. It also experienced “once in a generation” oyster spawning success & an increase in submerged aquatic vegetation.
