🎉 Last week, the City of Camden, the Camden Redevelopment Agency and the people of Camden celebrated EPA’s selection of Camden for a $2.5 million grant to clean up part of the former S. Yaffa & Sons facility. After years of illegal dumping created 45-foot piles of contaminated soil and construction debris, this funding will help advance redevelopment plans for the Bergen Square community.
Community members and project partners are marking this important milestone and celebrating collaboration across local, state, and federal partners.

Innovation at the EPA Air Toxics Lab in Edison, NJ! 🚀
💨 We’ve just built a custom manifold in-house that can fill up to 18 air sampling canisters at once - triple our previous capacity! That means more samples, faster results, and a huge boost in efficiency for our upcoming indoor air/vapor intrusion testing season.
By ramping up our capacity from 6 to 18 canisters and keeping the entire process in-house, we’re also saving a substantial amount of money. This leap forward in innovation will allow us to analyze even more vapor intrusion samples from superfund sites.
We’re excited to see the impact this will have on our work.
EPA teamed up with @TheJusticeDept on Tuesday to protect residents in @EPARegion2 near a commercial sterilization facility in Salinas, Puerto Rico from toxic air pollutants. We announced a proposed $700,000 settlement with Steri-Tech, Inc. to resolve Clean Air Act violations and require a 99.99% reduction in ethylene oxide emissions from each sterilization chamber vent. With this action, facilities will have the proper controls to support safe access to critical medical devices, while also keeping Americans safe. epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-and…

🌊 Flood Cleanup & Air Quality Safety Tips 🌊
After a flood, the air in your home can become unhealthy due to mold, germs, and bugs. Protect yourself and your family:
🧹 Clean and dry your house and everything in it.
🧼 Clean hard surfaces; throw away anything wet with flood water that can’t be cleaned.
🦺 Wear safety gear: N-95 respirator, goggles, gloves, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, boots or work shoes.
⚡ Always use portable generators OUTSIDE and far away from the building. Generator fumes can be deadly!
