Decided to go premium so I can write more. Writing is a way for me to process things and I need space to write right now. I don’t intend to make money. Just write

This is depressing but it's fascinating that a group of people who probably all pretend they are anti-capitalist go straight for the high end luxury goods for the looting.

The shooter was killed within minutes of the first emergency call. 4 people were already dead. I need people to understand that a fast response and a preventable tragedy are not the same thing.

Mine is this way! We let him make a mess then take him right to the bath 😂 he’ll learn eventually
BLW moms, assemble. But in all seriousness, my baby won’t let me spoon feed her. She just yanks the spoon out of my hand because she wants to do it herself. It’s quite messy 😂

This is very true
i’ve said this before but Americans and Europeans just have very different senses of humor. Americans love hyperbole and being dramatic, Europeans (broadly) prefer dry, understated humor. most of the arguing on the site is people misunderstanding this and getting stupidly mad about it.

after watching the West Wing, I remember thinking I could never be press secretary. but recent events have been great for my self-confidence. I now think I could be a press secretary for at least five days

THIS!! Teenage me would not even be able to comprehend my life now.
I think it's really sad and damaging to tell teenagers that it "gets worse" once they become adults. Because it doesn't. My life got significantly better once I got out of the house and became financially independent. I'm in a significantly better headspace than I was at 16.

THIS! There’s trade offs but watching a little human learn how the world works is 1000% worth the trade offs
Absolutely everything is a trade off Kids are a trade off Careers are a trade off Getting married is a trade off Staying single is a trade off It’s crazy to lie to people and claim any life choice is 100% rainbows and roses, and people aren’t usually dumb enough to believe that anyways “Kids are a trade off but they’re worth it” is a more honest assessment (and a more convincing one!)

As much as people will hate this, he is correct to hold this view. Rushing ascension doesn’t do anyone any good. It’s much better to go through the process correctly and do the work. Make the changes. Put in the effort. If Ukraine joins too early it will be catastrophic to both the EU and Ukraine. Plus culturally Ukraine isn’t ready. It’s just not. There’s still way too many people running around with Soviet mentality.
Hungarian PM Péter Magyar says Ukraine’s EU accession process could take 15 or 20 years and currently has no target date. He argued that membership must be based solely on merit, pointing to Serbia, which began its European integration process around 15 years ago and is still not close to joining. #EU

Her actual criticism was that scheduling school performances at 10 a.m. on weekdays prevents many parents from coming out to support their kids, which seems not only eminently reasonable but indisputably true?

Oh finally an alarm. Should have been under for like an hour now 😑

Can someone please explain to me the logic of having no air alarm in Kyiv when a drone is flying over border villages and I can hear air defense firing from inside my apartment inside Kyiv city limits?? What the fuck is up with this shit? If that drone flew another kilometer or two it would have been inside the city before an alarm even sounded.

She cries but she ran for political office expecting no consequences? Russian entitlement is something else
Russian gymnast Angelina Melnikova breaks down in tears after the Netherlands refused to issue her a visa. She will miss the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Melnikova is known for her support of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

Very true. When you have to, you just do
Sometimes I see people on social media say, "Well, I just couldn't. I would (faint, die, hide) here." The reality is, you just haven't had to; that is why you feel that way. Facing fears is hard work; it is hard to get back to sleep after an attack; it is hard to learn to sleep through an attack. It is hard to just keep walking calmly as the KABS fall. The reality is, you probably could; you just have not had to. There is a difference there, truly one that I wish people would stop limiting themselves on.

Obviously?
nos.nl/l/2634821 So the Dutch Ministry of Sport is saying that the visa rejection has nothing to do with their sport accomplishments, but rather whether or not they pose a threat to international relations of Schengen countries 🫪🫪🫪

People claiming the Russian visa denial is intentional sabotage need to get a grip. I HIGHLY doubt some middling immigration officers making these decisions have any idea or care about gymnastics. They’re just making decisions based on the information in front of them.
