Most designers overcomplicate 'user empathy' or 'user centered designer' by trying to use personas or other UX-y tools. Just imagine someone in a realistic scenario using your product to accomplish their goal. That's it. Here's an example with @linear:

Community folks—my consulting clients are always asking me who they should hire. If you're on the job market right now, raise your hand here and let me know what you're looking for so I can have you in mind when this stuff crosses my desk!

Product Managers have taken a huge chunk out of the design teams agency by framing insight gathering as “product discovery”.

Disappointed but not surprised by the amount of people who could not describe what design thinking actually is, yet rush to defend it against any criticism

The best way to help your team make a decision is to ask questions, not drive solutions. It’s one of the hardest things to do as a leader. To step back & not do what you do best, problem solve. Great leaders facilitate & hold teams accountable, not solve on their behalf.

FWIW folks, you're validating your _hypothesis_, not your design. We _evaluate_ designs in order to validate or invalidate a hypothesis of how to solve a problem.

Hi! The global Jewish population has still not rebounded from the Holocaust. There were 16.6 million Jews in 1939, then 6 million of us were annihilated in a genocide that happened when "It's A Wonderful Life" came out in movie theaters, and now there are 14.8 million of us.
