Healthy Streets results: “Another year of little progress in Sutton in terms of implementing healthy streets measures. Sutton is ranked 30th out of the 33 London boroughs, dropping two places from 2023.”

On June 20 the City of London votes on whether current restrictions on Bank Junction should remain. Black cabs have been lobbying hard. They cite the benefits for the disabled. But disabled users don't agree. Watch this video of wheelchair user Ben Foley @citypolicychair

59% would support road user charging (vs 19% opposed) if revenue used to fund public transport. Come on @UKLabour, here's a popular and equitable policy you could adopt to expose the Tories' desperate "war on the war on drivers".

So, the Streatham Wells LTN has been ‘suspended’ and motor traffic has massively increased on the residential roads that the LTN previously protected, but at least it’s solved the problem of gridlock on Streatham High Road…Oh.
Living Streets got in touch. I think the issue was with the outdated browser on the laptop I was using. Anyway, went out for a walk instead and all the better for it. Love my LTN!
Hi @livingstreets I have attempted to join the #walkingsummit online, but failed. Are you having technical difficulties? If not, it must be something my end. Anyway, I wish everyone a successful day, and look forward to reading the reviews on coming days.

The most cynical thing about this manipulative political tactic is that it pretends that cars haven’t been powerfully prioritized since the 1960s. Minor attempts to bring things closer to balance are framed as “anti-motorist.” This approach will hurt everyone, including drivers.
Replying to @RishiSunak
On Sunday, I slammed the brakes on anti-motorist measures.
For many, our car is a lifeline. We use them to get to work or see our family.
But too often drivers feel under attack.
Our new plan will put drivers back in the driving seat and improve their experience on the road.

My latest article for @cyclinginsutton (the second in a mini-series of three) has been posted.
Essentially, a review of the 'cycling' schemes delivered in one outer London borough over the last decade, plus an overview of strategies that come and strategies that go.
New post: 'What was delivered for cycling in Sutton between 2010 and 2022?' - in six bite-size chapters. ^CM getsuttoncycling.org.uk/2023…
I am pleased to have this article finally published. It comes in at around 12,000 words, took ages to prepare, but just had to be done. Never again! (Well, not quite never again as there are two further parts to follow, but you get my drift). @London_Cycling @LDN_LS
New post: 'Sutton's councillors: welcome to the class of 2022'. Who was in, and who out at last May's elections. Plus a reminder that all it takes is political will. (It is a long read, so recommend make a brew, and put feet up, before you start)! ^CM getsuttoncycling.org.uk/2023…

#AirPollution is a global health emergency!
Strong policies like low-emission zones have proven to make a dent in toxic emissions.
National and local governments must come together across Europe to tackle its devastating health impacts head-on.
