A23 Streatham Hill works update: Temporary traffic signals 🚧🚦 As part of our ongoing work for a new permanent road layout for the A23 Streatham Hill, there are lane restrictions in both directions on the A23 between the junction with Holmewood Road on Brixton Hill and the junction with Tierney Road on Streatham Hill. There will also be temporary traffic lights from Monday 28 September until late 2026. Journeys in the local area may take longer. Gallows Corner Flyover has reopened to all traffic ⚠️ Thanks to local residents, businesses and road users for their patience during the works. Following strengthening and refurbishment work, the flyover and roundabout have reopened, with all traffic management and diversion routes removed. The improvements help secure this key Havering and east London route for decades to come, while new pedestrian and cycle crossings make journeys safer and more accessible. The works were delivered alongside Essex and Suffolk Water and @CostainGroup.

A big shout-out to Customer Service Assistant Evangelos Bozidis at Euston station. 👏 While carrying out his duties on the platform, he heard a passenger shouting for help and quickly realised their leg had become trapped in a train door. Acting immediately, he stopped the dispatched train and safely released the passenger using the station's safety equipment. Thanks to his quick thinking and decisive action, a potentially serious situation was brought to a safe conclusion. A40 Westway closure tonight 14 September 🚧 The A40 Westway will be closed westbound overnight tonight from 21:00 between the Westway Roundabout and Marylebone Flyover. And at Surrey Quays, a new step-free entrance provides access to both Windrush line platforms, alongside a new ticket hall, accessible toilet and gate line. We're proud to recognise Woolwich Ferry Deckhand Jack Smith with a TfL Lifesaver Award for his outstanding contribution to safety and rescue operations. Throughout his time with the Woolwich Ferry, Jack has consistently demonstrated exceptional vigilance, professionalism and commitment to helping others, playing a key role in a number of life-saving incidents on and around the River Thames. Among his many contributions, Jack has: *Helped recover a person suffering from hypothermia, using his first aid training to support treatment decisions that contributed to a successful outcome. *Identified signs of a possible overboard incident during a routine inspection, immediately raising the alarm and maintaining visual contact with the casualty, enabling a swift recovery. *Responded to an emergency while off-vessel, quickly equipping himself with PPE and assisting in the safe recovery of a casualty. *Led a rescue boat deployment as coxswain following reports of a person in the water, helping bring them to safety despite challenging conditions on the river. Working closely alongside partners including the @RNLI and the @LondonPortAuth, Jack's actions have repeatedly demonstrated the vital role Woolwich Ferry staff play in maintaining safety on the River Thames. #TfLCares #CustomerService #LondonTransport
