The HuSH complex silences retrotransposable elements. We identify HuSH2, centered on TASOR2, targeting KRAB-ZNFs and interferon genes, balancing retrotransposon silencing and immune regulation. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

📰 A recent @NatureComms study by a @Lund_Stem team led by @ch_douse reveals how DNA methylation & the HUSH complex work to silence repetitive #DNA and protect genomic stability, providing new insights for #aging and disease research.

Cool study!
The research project that got the lab off the ground has been published in @NatureSMB 🥹. I couldn't do a better job of summarizing than co-lead author @jrichardalbert , so he'll take it from here! (and makes unexpected connections with our other recent study)

New research from the Krabbe lab!
We used deep-brain imaging at the single cell level to show that amygdala interneurons are highly plastic across fear learning and extinction at both the ensemble and single neuron level.

Interested in piRNAs and transposon DNA methylation? Our new collaborative work revels a key mechanism underpinning the precision of piRNA-guided LINE1 methylation.
Congratulation to all the authors!

This is awesome 👇
🚨Preprint alert🚨 Excited to share the #preprint version of our work @MundlosLab ! Curious about how a transposable element (TE) insertion can cause developmental phenotypes? 🧬🦠🐁

Delighted that this is finally out! Thanks to @Faulkner_Lab @todd_macfarlan and the other reviewer for good and constructive comments that arrived in my inbox the day after my second child was born... paper here nature.com/articles/s41467-0…. Short reflection on new stuff...
Happy and proud to share my lab’s study on how DNA methylation and the HUSH-MORC2 corepressor work together, out last week on biorxiv: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
A fantastic collaboration with our colleagues at @JakobssonLab @Lund_Stem...1/7
We also think that our findings explain conflicting prior work on HUSH-MORC2-mediated retrotransposon restriction i.e. that the methylation status of the genome in general, and individual L1/transposon integrants in particular, is critical in defining sensitivity to this complex.
