the only storyline in "Seinfeld" is George's slowly receding hairline which is a barometer of the passage of time. when George has the most hair "Seinfeld" is least funny, as "Seinfeld" was just finding its particular style. otherwise, faces remain (literally) unchanged for years

"Seinfeld" seems very specific to NYC at a particular time in history; it was also a sort of parody of other, more conventional virtue-signaling TV of the era in which good-hearted characters lived through crises & emerged better people. on "Seinfeld" no one ever changes.
