We caught up with Swim Sista’s filmmaker, @catjoywhite , and some of the Swim Sistas sisterhood to discuss the motivation and inspiration behind the film and the barriers faced by Black adults who don’t swim.

Drawing on her connection with open water, @catjoywhite wanted to explore the Black female experience of swimming, womanhood, reconnection, and freedom.
And so Swim Sistas was born.

This is Woman Life Freedom 💚🤍❤️
I cannot overstate how dangerous and brave this young girl’s act of protest was today.
Her whereabouts are currently unknown.
May she, and the great people of Iran, be free of the Islamic Republic soon.

In Iran, a woman who was accosted by the “morality police” for not wearing hijab removes her clothing & roams the streets in defiance. She has since been arrested by IRGC forces and forcibly disappeared. This is the brave face of true resistance.

sharing again in honour of @catjoywhite's appointment to an honorary fellowship @StEdmundHall #floreataula #InternationalWomensDay (bit of impromptu filming on my part since the official recording plan did not work)
In the third of the Hall’s ‘in conversation’ series, Professor Wes Williams talked to @Cat_White_101 about how her writing and filmmaking have helped champion the experiences and voices of Black women and girls. Watch it here youtu.be/go2C3pz_uCI

@GWRHelp please can you thank your lovely staff: Ben on the last train from Swansea to London on Fri 13th Sept. He went above & beyond to help me and my sister (not realising we were travelling back from our grandma’s funeral & that kindness meant so much)🤍
@GWRHelp & today on the 14:30 from Ldn to Bristol, the 2 lovely staff members on the refreshments carriage are so kind and generous after a long travel day & delayed flights even in the midst of their own stressful day! Hope this can be passed on, they deserve their flowers 💛💛
