Wow
This is the Oxyrhynchus Hymn, dated to the late 200s AD. It is the earliest known Christian hymn manuscript with both lyrics and musical notation. A plain English rendering of the surviving words:
“Let all creation be silent.
Let the shining stars be still.
Let the rushing winds and rivers cease.
While we sing to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
let every power answer: Amen, amen.
Strength, praise, and glory forever to God,
the only giver of all good things. Amen, amen.”

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

Schools group kids of all abilities together and call it “equity.”
But some kids don’t know their letters, while others read Harry Potter.
Good luck teaching them all at once...
@MichaelPetrilli explains why kids need classes that match their abilities:
Gifted Kids Are Being Held Back in the Name of Equity
Many schools are ending gifted and talented classes in the name of “equity.” But holding smart kids back hurts everyone.

I didn’t become convinced against Christian nationalism by reading another book. I became convinced after my own church faced discrimination when we were denied permission to build. Here’s why that experience clarified how I think about the government's authority in matters of religion.

Did the Internet kill religion?
Yeah, it did.
When Internet penetration rose, religiosity declined in a dataset of 81 countries.

This is consonant with the philosopher Max Picard's 1946 claim that the core reason why Germany fell to the Nazis was the loss of "logos" -- of faith in meaning. The Great War, hyperinflation, Great Depression, destroyed their faith in transcendent meaning. Then came Hitler.
Malcolm Guite explains, in just 90 seconds, how the deconstruction of our guiding stories leads to the collapse of civilization.

This Labor Day, remember that your faithful work glorifies your Father in Heaven:
"The action of a shepherd in keeping sheep...is as good a work before God as is the action of a judge in giving sentence or a magistrate in ruling or a minister in preaching." - William Perkins

The early church was (1) multi-ethnic/against racism (2) committed to the poor (3) forgiving and reconciling (4) anti-abortion/pro-life (5) committed to sex only within marriage between a man and a woman. Those five combined were seen as radical and out of step with the culture.
Today, our secular culture has sought to maintain some ethical values from Christianity while rejecting its theology and worldview (see T.Holland “Dominion”), so The Five theological-ethical stances appear to be a ‘middle ground’ between ‘liberal’ and ‘conservative’.
But they aren’t a middle ground or ‘third way’ at all, except via accidental appearance. Taken together (which they must be—since they are based on the same distinct Christian view of power and service) The Five are still radical and out of step with the culture.
The conservative church GENERALLY tends to reject calls for justice and reconciliation (1-3) while the progressive church and ex-Evangelicals reject 4-5. I'd argue that they hang together—not just theologically but practically (and historically).
