Congratulations / Llongyfarchiadau to Cllr @rodneyberman on being selected as our candidate for Cardiff East! 🔶
Rodney secured a 12% swing against Labour at the last General Election, finishing second.
Repeat that swing and Cardiff East turns Lib Dem! 🏴🔶

. @joseph_carterUK has an outstanding record as a local councillor in Cardiff! He is a fantastic choice as our candidate in Cardiff North and would make a great representative for the city in Westminster. Ymlaen! 🔶🏴

EXCITING NEWS - I’m pleased to be selected as the @welshlibdems candidate for Cardiff North. Whilst I hope that a snap general election isn’t called and the focus should be on the council elections, it’s good to be prepared.

With diesel hitting £2 a litre, drivers are being hit hard at the pump.
Lib Dems are calling for a 10p fuel duty cut, 10% off rail fares and £1 cap on bus fares.
Britain needs action on the cost of living, not more warm words from Burnham.

Our final question is from our leader @rodneyberman calling on residents complaining about noise or environmental pollution not to be prevented from reporting issues, just because they are not online
Question 15 is from Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn councillor @joseph_carterUK calling for more CCTV to tackle fly tipping. The cabinet member said they are investing in more camera, so Cllr Carter called for these in his community
Question 9 is from Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn councillor @joseph_carterUK calling for Wales to get the full £4 billion of rail funding that it deserves

We’re so pleased that the @cardifflibdems amendment was accepted. Human rights should be taken into account when the council is purchasing or selling land, including the sale of the Pentwyn Park and Ride
Question 5 is from our culture spokesperson @jon_shimmin asking for an update on St David’s Hall. The cabinet member said a paper will come to cabinet by the end of the year. Jon raised concerns about the future of Cardiff Singer of the World
We’ve moved onto oral questions. The first one is from our leader @rodneyberman about the sudden closure of Albany Primary School following discovery of dry rot. He called for similar surveys of Marlborough and Roath Park primary schools in case they have similar issues
‘Should these people not have rights? So I ask us to think of those residents and let’s support their human rights. I urge, I plead with Cllr Weaver, to show mercy, and do the right thing by pulling the plug on the sale of the Pentwyn Park & Ride for a data centre.’
‘and beyond it trees and open space, and then suddenly the council choose to sell a huge parcel of land to a company to build a giant data centre, bringing noise and air pollution, risking flooding, undermining the value of your home, and putting your health at risk…
Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn councillor Joe Carter argued for the rights of residents living next to land that the council wants to sell including the Pentwyn Park and Ride. He said: ‘Imagine you are living in a brand new house that you bought in good faith overlooking a river …
We are now onto motion 2 on declaring Cardiff a Human Rights city. We support this important motion and have made some amendments to include land sales and planning policy
Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn councillor Dan Naughton seconded the amendment talking about anti-social behaviour in his community linked to illegal e-bikes
Our leader @rodneyberman proposed the amendment praised the councillors who proposed the motions and said that we support the proposals, but cannot ignore the issues of illegal e-bikes and e-scooters on our high streets. He said we need to do more to support local businesses
We’re now debating the first motion - tackling illegal activity on Cardiff high streets. Labour councillors have proposed the motion and we have proposed some amendments adding e-bikes and calling for business rate reform
