🐋🦐 Also at #SCAR2026, presenting our work from the @ConvexSeascape project. Using sedimentary DNA, we aim to quantify whale and krill signals and reconstruct their historical dynamics in Antarctica — looking into the past to better understand these key Southern Ocean species

🧬 And a third contribution at #SCAR2026! Great to see @andprofumo work on how Antarctic marine invertebrates respond to heat stress at the transcriptomic level — revealing striking species-specific responses to warming. 📷@Conxita_LAB @carlosduartephd

KAUST Marine Scientist Dr Shannon Klein explains findings from a new global study on marine ecosystems during record ocean warming. Researchers tracked over 200 ecological impacts worldwide and found disruption occurs year-round, not only during summer heat extremes. kaust.news/yGrH

A KAUST-led study provides one of the first global assessments of marine ecosystem impacts during the first year global temperatures temporarily exceeded 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Analyzing 201 ecological impact events across the world's oceans, researchers found evidence of disruption occurring throughout the year not only during summer heat extremes. Excited to share our new paper on eukaryotic diversity across the Red Sea 🌊🧬 Using eDNA metabarcoding, we reveal 4,298 MOTUs across 40 phyla and strong community turnover along latitudinal and environmental gradients, from surface to deep sea

So proud of Ken for this fantastic study Mesopelagic fish are key to carbon sequestration, yet their diets remain a mystery-especially in the Red Sea Using DNA metabarcoding & ROV footage, we uncovered fascinating behaviors, including rare benthic feeding onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
