Really glad to have @MChrisRiley working on the critical questions around enabling data transfers between services. This is a complex space, and collaboration is the best way to ensure that people have the tools they need to manage and transfer their data.

For the past year+ I’ve been working to help get this launched. Super excited to see it finally happen and thrilled @MChrisRiley is leading the work.
Hello, world! We're the Data Transfer Initiative - a new nonprofit with a mission to build open source direct data portability tools, so that you can take your data to the services you choose, and to help make sure new laws and rules benefit users as much as possible. (1/2)

I’m sorry, I simply cannot be cynical about a technology that can accomplish this.

Mini review of the #AppleWatchUltra : ✅ Bigger screen better for my old eyes ✅ GPS track was spot on ✅ Extra button great for starting and stopping ✅ Precision start was overdue ❌ need first party routing/mapping for workouts ❌ Heavier watch may lead to HR dropouts

Apple’s “Photonic Engine” is fine for most uses. But if you want to take photos in a cave, you’ll need the “Platonic Engine”

Business idea: medieval themed bowling alley called “Anne Bowlin’” and every bowling ball has a severed mannequin head in the resin and each pin looks like Henry VIII

Let’s be 100% clear. If Republicans win control of the House, Senate and White House two years from now, they will pass a national abortion ban. And no matter where you live, no matter how pro-choice your state is, women and doctors will be locked up for practicing health care.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it a thousand times: The treatment for an ectopic pregnancy, a septic uterus, or a miscarriage that your body won’t release is abortion. If you can’t get those abortions, you die. You. Die.

What does it say about crypto that I read this whole thread and thought that something called “Magic Internet Money” was a parody of crypto and not an actual token?
We have a scoop from one of our associate autists: MIM (Magic Internet Money) may be nearly insolvent. MIM is one of the larger stablecoins, with a market cap of ~$300M. We can't believe that a project called Magic Internet Money has been acting irresponsibly either. Details:

Looking at my own schedule, I definitely do a 9pm shift most nights
Microsoft researchers found white-collar workers are adding a 9pm shift to their workday. I wrote about why: - your entire day is filled with online meetings - flexible work empowers night owls - more global teams - WFH + parenting = "triple peak" day theatlantic.com/newsletters/…

I was hanging out in the metaverse (as one does), watching penguins sledding (as one does), and someone started coughing right near me. I may be safe from Omicron, but what about Ava-tau?
Not only is today's date a palindrome, it's also an ambigram. You can read it left to right, right to left, and also upside down #nerdalert

This was real. Steve loved video games and took them seriously as an art form. Especially adventure games—an extension of his love of math and puzzles and, later on, escape rooms, which he and his partner Jeff really crushed. We talked about his love of Myst a lot over the years.
I'm sorry WHAT. WAT. Babe I love Sunday as much as the next person, like LOTS, but a world in which Sondheim made games instead is a bit goddamn dazzling to consider.
