This answer doesn’t so much sink Democrats in South Florida as expose the fatal disconnect that does: a nagging tendency to listen more to activist ideologues than to the voters they need to win over.

College Football is wilder than ever…
We know absolutely nothing other than Miami is the best team of the country & it’s not close.

Some unfortunate news from Colin McCarthy who seems to confirm we lost Allen Bailey today.
Mr. Bailey was a 2x All-ACC selection at Miami and went on to have a solid NFL career with the Chiefs and Falcons spanning 10 seasons.
He also founded the Allen Bailey Foundation, providing children with school supplies and mentorship.
He was 37 years old. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
A Super Bowl Hov-time Show? 👀
Jay-Z is planning to be the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show performer, per @PuckNews. The rap mogul is on watch to make the announcement as early as this weekend, when he performs at the site of the game, SoFi Stadium.
Jay-Z's Roc Nation signed a 5-year extension with the NFL to produce the halftime show in 2024.

Notre Dame loses.
Miami could be No. 1 tomorrow for the first time since 2002.
It wasn’t a misunderstanding. Everyone understood exactly what you said and how you said it. Mental health becomes harder to talk about when seeking help becomes a punchline. @stephenasmith, join us at the @OvernightWalk next summer. Walk with us. Listen. Learn why this matters.
Saif nails it. Miami has never lacked intelligence or talent. What we’ve lacked are enough pathways that allow that talent to take risks, pursue big ideas, and build here without having to leave home to do it. That’s why investing in institutions, education, and opportunity matters so much for our next chapter.
Replying to @gabednconfused
Yes.
I’d say that Miami is filled with a lot of “smart” people who had to choose safe paths in life that protected them from the pull of generational poverty.
I don’t mistake our community’s love of disposable status symbols and vanity adornments as an indicator of a lack of intellectual heft.
I have a dear friend who started in life as a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader and is today an award winning PhD primatologist and NatGeo Explorer @mireyamayor is one of many of those people who broke the sound barrier and rep 305 brilliance.
Also bro, @gabednconfused you and countless others represent that brilliance our city has.

1/ Today’s announcement that Ken Griffin is giving $3 billion to Carnegie Mellon is big, big news. Combined with Vanderbilt’s new campus in West Palm Beach, it could put the Miami metro on a path toward the ranks of the world’s leading innovation regions.

This is how we build a world-class city for generations to come. Great cities are built through bold investments in their people and institutions. Bringing Carnegie Mellon to Miami is a transformational moment, one that will strengthen our economy, expand opportunities for our students, and position our city at the forefront of research and innovation.
Hedge-fund titan Ken Griffin is donating $2 billion to start a Carnegie Mellon University campus in Miami, part of the largest-ever individual gift toward higher education on.wsj.com/4AGpvMq

These Phillies can’t hurt me anymore, but that hasn’t stopped them from trying
In that case, can we cap gas prices and the cost of healthcare too while we’re going down this route? That also helps college sports fans.
Sen. John Kennedy (R., La.) on the Senate floor: "Who makes all of this possible [college sports]? The fans! The people who pya to go to the games....the ordinary Americans out there who have to make donations to the athletic programs in order to even have the privilege to buy the tickets."
"This bill doesn't do a damn thing for the fans."
Kennedy has offered an amendment to cap ticket prices.
Diamondbacks need to win regardless of what happens in Philly. The Phillies game is entirely irrelevant.

Darian Mensah tonight before being pulled in the 3rd quarter against Central Michigan:
23-for-27, 338 yards, 3 TDs
He's the first FBS passer in the last 30 years to have more touchdown passes (14) than incompletions (12) through his first four games, per @CBSSports research.
