I can’t believe that after all these years this XKCD comic is still so true.

Lots of analysis of the xz/liblzma vulnerability. Most skip over the first step of the attack:
0. The original maintainer burns out, and only the attacker offers to help (so the attacker inherits the trust of the project built by the maintainer).

⚠️RECORD RAINFALL TODAY⚠️
Seattle received 2.01” of rain today, setting a new mark for wettest Dec. 5 on record. Old mark was 1.67” in 1970.
3.37” of rain has now fallen since Monday!
Shocked and heartbroken about Kris Nova’s passing. Her spirit shone bright in the Kubernetes world, a true advocate for unity. My deepest condolences to her loved ones.
Dusted off my skateboard today. And after much drama and sweat, I re-emerged with all the grace of a graceful potato. But hey, treflip happened!
Potato elegance at its finest!

1 - Guillermo Ochoa is the first Mexico 🇲🇽 goalkeeper to save a penalty in a World Cup game since at least 1966 (excluding shootouts), after Mexican goalkeepers conceded their first three penalties in the tournament since then (two by Ochoa and one by Oswaldo Sánchez). Hero.
Woow! This is by far the most relatable song you are going to hear today. This is pure talent and the best example of sublimated neurosis that I’ve seen in our field. #musicHeals – at Bellevue, WA

The Uber hack is quite severe and wide ranging. Wishing their blue teams the best of luck and love during this understandably difficult period. Some thoughts & observations based on what we've seen so far 👉 1/N
