Folks. Sign language is more than hands. More than fingers. More than hand shapes. It’s body, face, position...
A glove will never ‘translate’ sign language in a way that is beneficial to the deaf.
Fellow nerds, when designing, remember this: “nothing about us, without us.”
A glove that translates sign language into speech in real time has been developed by scientists -- potentially allowing deaf people to communicate directly with anyone, without the need for a translator. cnn.it/3gausTC

Intelligence as an entire construction is rooted in ableism, classism, and racism.
I’m not going to support this framework of people being smart or intelligent anymore. I’m going to choose to be more specific with my assessments of people’s words and actions (and not character).

Big companies absolutely can pay a single salary regardless of location. They don’t do it because it’s not in their interest, not because it’s infeasible. – at Cupertino, CA
Replying to @film_girl
I understand why salary ranges exist and I'm not advocating for a singular salary irrespective of location, especially at big companies. If a place can do it, fine -- but big companies absolutely cannot. What I am saying is the meme that everyone will move to Ohio now is a lie.

i used to hate in video games when you’d talk to everyone in a town and they’d all be like “did you hear about the PLOT ELEMENT?” and all the ambient conversations are like “dreadful days, these, what with the PLOT ELEMENT and all.” didn’t realize that’s just actually how it goes
