Painfully aware that I've basically had an incendiary device in my lounge for the last 20 years, I finally cleaned-up my old matchbox collection from the (mostly London) bars and restraurants I used to frequent as a single guy.
A few that stand out for me: The Cross and The Key (iykyk); Home Bar (my girlfriend at the time was barred for her wild antics); The Elbow Room (many different branches!), Freud, Terminus, The Light Bar, Detroit, A.K.A., and many more
Anywhere you recognise in here that also has happy memories?

I've put on a ridiculous out of the money options play on $VOO just in case the market tanks as a result of NVIDIA earnings, am very much hoping I don't have to cash in this "insurance policy"

[ AI Product Limitations in Europe by US Tech Giants ]
1/ Major US tech companies are not releasing certain AI products in Europe.
Apple and Meta have limited AI product launches, citing European regulatory environment concerns.
2/ Meta did not release its latest AI model in Europe, worried that the regulatory landscape could hinder business operations. This move reflects the intensifying regulatory conflict between Silicon Valley and the European Union.
3/ US tech firms criticize European policymakers, expressing concerns that regulations could impede technological progress.
In contrast, European officials argue that these regulations serve as a crucial tool to counterbalance the global dominance of technology.
4/ The outcome of this clash between European regulations and US tech companies remains uncertain.
It is unclear whether this conflict will remain a simple disagreement or expand into a division of internet experiences between the Western world and China.

[Data Center Construction Boom in the US]
1/ Construction of data centers in major North American markets increased by approximately 70% year-over-year, reaching 3.9GW, according to CBRE.
reuters.com/markets/us/north…
Power demand for data centers is rapidly growing as the world's largest tech companies compete to expand their AI and cloud computing businesses.
2/ More than 500MW of new data centers were built in the eight largest markets in the US and Canada during the first half of 2024 alone.
This capacity nearly matches the existing data center capacity in Silicon Valley.
3/ Simultaneously, the vacancy rate for data centers dropped to an all-time low of 2.8%.
Prices for data centers have risen, with newer centers generally commanding a premium over older ones.
The price gap between existing facilities and new data centers has widened due to demand for high-performance computing.
This is because older data centers lack the infrastructure to handle the power demands of today's users.

[ CTV's Limited Impact from Macroeconomic Uncertainties ]
1/ $TTD suggests CTV will have limited impact from macroeconomic uncertainties. Despite ongoing consumer spending slowdown concerns, the company expressed strong confidence in the second half outlook.
2/ Retail media remains a key growth driver, but shows mixed results across channels, indicating possible effects from consumer slowdown. Compared to Amazon, $TTD CTV's dominant growth proportion suggests limited impact from macro environments.
3/ The 3Q24 guidance maintains growth similar to the first half, reflecting confidence despite increasing macro uncertainties. CFOs now demand real growth through marketing expenditure, while CMOs face pressure to increase ROI on marketing spending amid inflation, consumer weakness, and high interest rates.
4/ These challenges create a favorable environment for $TTD, activating the buyers' market. As a result, CMOs now make data-driven rational decisions. A trend shift is detected as more CMOs seek $TTD for data optimization and informed choices.

J.B. Hunt's plan to increase intermodal capacity by 40% by 2025 positions it for market share gains despite a soft freight market. While intermodal margins are at a 20-year low, this strategic move aims to boost efficiency and asset density.

Second opportunity to buy $DQ at the lows after the buyback announcement was a gift. Now polysilicon prices are increasing for the first time in 4 months as production has been curtailed and inventory destocked. Up from here. news.metal.com/newscontent/1…
Wow. Second opportunity to buy $DQ within a hair of a negative enterprise value AFTER it has now been de-risked with the announced $100M buyback plan. At the Q4 buyback pace and current share price they would be retiring >1% of shares out PER WEEK. Yes, PER WEEK!

Tanker stocks acting like they didn't expect the summer lull we get every year and certainly aren't pricing the strong Q4 we get every year. "buuuut markets are efficient". Sure. Sell me your tanker stocks please.
No news from the spot market, which continues to retreat although VLs may have found a low. At least their relatively weak spring and summer performance can be explained by China's very weak import data which hit a two-year low in July. This should mark a low point as the overall #economy should be improving and #oil is severely lagging the country's other commodity imports. Arctic
