This World #NTDDay, let’s spotlight Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) – a silent but urgent crisis impacting over 56 million women and girls in Sub-Saharan Africa. 👇🏽 #FGS not only increases the risk of #HIV but often goes unrecognized, misdiagnosed, and untreated, leaving women vulnerable to severe health and social consequences. 🚨#FundHerHealth

Encouraging to see @w4_gf calling governments & donors to take the Rights Path by taking action on #FGSchisto,a risk for #HIV & for financing mechanisms to include #FGSchisto in endemic countries. Integration of #FGSchisto & #HIV is integral to reaching vulnerable women & girls
🌍 This #WorldAIDSDay, join us in taking the Rights Path: My Health, My Right! Let’s call for urgent action to uphold the rights & health of women in all their diversity. We urge governments & stakeholders to: 🏥 Ensure healthcare systems provide gender-transformative, rights-based HIV services, including access to self-testing, PrEP, ART, and integrated care. 📚 Expand comprehensive sexuality education and community-led programs to link HIV care with mental health, TB, Malaria, & more. 💡 Join @UNAIDS Global Partnership to eliminate HIV-related stigma & discrimination. 💰 Commit to @GlobalFund's 8th Replenishment & fund women-led responses. 📖 Read the full statement: women4gf.org/2024/12/01/stat…

The stats speak for themselves. There are clear repercussions from #FGSchisto on women's mental health. It's been two years since the Kigali Summit to help #BeatNTDs, but women with FGS are still being neglected. It's time to step up our game. sightsavers.org/blogs/2024/0…

🌍 Meet Dr Kate O’Brien, Director of the Department of Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals at the World Health Organization (WHO) for a #TeachToReach Lightning Chat ahead of the main event. youtube.com/watch?v=0NHrDXNn… Since the launch of the Expanded Programme for Immunization (EPI) in 1974, vaccination has saved 154 million lives. 💉 As we celebrate 50 years of EPI, Dr O’Brien will reflect on the programme’s most significant achievements and the challenges that lie ahead in the next 50 years. 🗣️ How can we amplify the voices of health workers and the communities they serve to ensure that the next 50 years of EPI are shaped by the realities and wisdom of communities most affected? 🌡️ Together, we’ll explore how immunization programmes can adapt to the new realities of a changing climate, and the critical role of health workers in building trust, reaching the unreached, and ensuring no one is left behind. 🤝 This dialogue between a global leader and health professionals in the Teach to Reach network is about the power of connecting expertise across geographies and levels of the health system to drive innovation and resilience. 📅 The Chat is a preview of the urgent topics that will be explored in-depth at Teach to Reach 10 on 20-21 June, where health workers will share their experiences navigating the challenges and opportunities at the intersection of climate change and health. Join us to be part of this vital dialogue on reimagining immunization in a changing world to protect the health of all. Imagine being able to sit down with #women who work for #health: a community health worker in Nigeria, a nurse in India, or a doctor in Brazil… and listen to their stories of triumph and struggle. #IWD2024 “Women Inspiring Women” makes that possible, bringing together voices that are rarely heard on the global stage. Read the press release: redasadki.me/2024/03/07/wome… Download the report: doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.10783… For International Women’s Day #IWD2024, The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) reached out to women in its global network of more than 60,000 health workers, inviting them to share their heartfelt advice and vision for the future with young women and girls. The responses are raw, honest, and deeply moving. From remote villages to urban slums, women work to build a better future for their communities. What makes this collection truly unique is its authenticity and diversity.

We asked 5,500 #health workers from 68 countries: If you could ask the leaders at #COP28 to do one thing right now to keep your community healthy, what would it be? Dr Muhammad Orooj Ashraf, a government health worker in Lahore City, Pakistan, answered: "I would ask leaders at COP28 to control air pollution. Since there are lots of issues that can be addressed but since I am asked about one thing so I would stick to the topic. Air pollution i.e., smog now a days is causing diseases like Rhinitis, Bronchitis, Chronic recurrent sinusitis, Otitis externa, Otomycosis, Conjunctivitis, Skin allergies and Inferior turbinate hypertrophy of nose. It is also causing life style change. Outdoor activities like jogging/walk, attendance in parks is getting low, especially for children." #COP28 #ClimateCrisis #Pakistan #Lahore #AirPollution Follow this link to learn from health workers about the effects of climate change on the communities they serve learning.foundation/cop28 Join the #COP28 event “From community to planet: Health professionals on the frontlines of climate change learning.foundation/climate
