I know this is nitpicking, but this France news has taught me that people don't know who Napoleon was. Case in point, this is a scene where Napoleon is, on behalf of radical leftists, executing conservatives, monarchists, nobles, and religious people.
Yeh but he did a circus stunt with a car
EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph.
The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries.
‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement.
But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe.
The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown.
‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.

We need an ANTI-FASCIST ECONOMICS which puts a floor under people's livelihoods and a ceiling on the extreme concentration of power and wealth.

The future they promised was flying cars, not one car flying for a few seconds - but you can never afford a home because 99% of the wealth is owned by the guy with the flying car.

Great failure of British culture that he says Weather Underground but not Angry Brigade
Recently, I’ve taken heavy flak from the usual suspects for refusing to assist in a memorial to 20 men who went to fight with the communist-organised International Brigades.
What next? Taxpayer-funded statues of the Viet Cong? The Weather Underground? Or, God forbid, Jamie Driscoll?
Not one penny of council taxpayers’ money or time will go towards this absolute nonsense.
I’d much rather see public money used to honour the 20,000 patriots from Wearside who answered their actual country’s call in the First World War.

We all face an existential threat, and it's closer than we think - AMOC collapse, 2 degree warming, collapse of British ecosystems.
I'm not sure I remember the media ever calling for Farage to step down during the many Reform/Ukip/Crytpo scandals

Polls reveal support for the party has plunged after it was accused of endorsing an antisemitic policy and leader Zack Polanski lost the key Holborn and St Pancras byelection

People have got very excited with their hot takes over Holborn and St Pancras.
Zack Polanski has been ‘humiliated’, and yet nobody has ever got within 3,364 votes of beating Labour before in the constituency.
And this at a time when some Lib Dems and Tories were holding their noses and lending Labour votes. Even if it was a by-election and we have that universal get-out that ‘things are different in by-elections’ I’d never have thought sitting through the election counts in the Dobson/early Starmer days that the majority here would be this low.
Then the Greens say they trebled their vote share, but we know that’s really distorted because they weren’t really playing in 2024 when they were virtually telling supporters to vote for Andrew Feinstein.
And Labour are hailing a blistering victory for ‘hope’, but spent every day with hundreds of people knocking on doors, bought lots of ads and brought all the big guns out for a return of only 12k votes - 82 per cent of eligible voters in the constituency didn’t vote for them despite all this effort.
No wonder the X bot was confused.

Today, for the first time since the Nazi era, a right wing extremist has been elected president of a state parliament in Germany. He relied not only on votes of the AfD but also the BSW, a party that once pretended it set out to stop the AfD by combining anti-migrant with pro-worker policies, and likely of members of the CDU.
This time there is no excuse. This time no one can say, they didn’t know what was at stake. Being anti-fascist is the only choice for democrats who mean it. And yes, this has to include economic policy in the service of universal dignity.

»Anti-fascist Economics« is triggering all the usual suspects even before publication. They come after me with sexist slurs.
This is the deepest crisis of Western democracy since the Nazi era. Growing up in Nuremberg, I have learned that being anti-fascist is my first civic duty. There can’t be a question which side I’m on, as a human and an economist.
As a student of FDR, I say: “I welcome their hatred.”
Say you want rent control and the media big boys will be all over you.
Say you want to cripple the economy with £47m in austerity cuts and build a replica of a defence system that barely works, they'll salivate.
