Senator Sheldon Whitehouse addressing an international security organization, warning of a fossil fuel axis of evil
Whitehouse calls out climate damage, and corrupt fossil fuel influence. 'The fossil fuel industry operates through front groups and funds the far right, as paid allies'.
Its pollute-for-free Fossil fuel business model is morally a sin, - now lethal to humankind. whitehouse.senate.gov/news/r… #climatechange #globalwarming

Why are peatlands burning?
Indonesia’s estimated 24.2 million hectares of peatland are vulnerable to fire, with 16.4 million hectares degraded and at risk. The primary cause is industrial-scale plantations for timber, pulp and paper, rice paddies and palm oil. To cultivate these lands, Indonesia drains peatlands with extensive canal networks stretching about 285,000 kilometres. This drainage leads to water flowing into rivers or the sea, leaving the dried peatlands susceptible to burning, particularly during severe El Niño years that bring drought to Indonesia.

Not one of the 16 graphs showing Earth's planetary vital signs is moving in the right direction. Instead, they all point to an acceleration of global climate breakdown: Greenhouse gases, ocean heat, and sea levels are surging, while glaciers, ice sheets, and reflectivity plunge. 7 vital signs are at record extremes.
This is not a warning for the future, it is a diagnosis of the present
Phase out fossil fuels now

Heading to +2°C above pre industrial NHem next week and IPCC abandoned his not so work, do Elites now stop pretending and now go full feudal oligarchy?

Austria wants to build a new indoor alpine ski ⛷️ dome so people can cool down in summer and snowboard 🏂 all season. Maybe we can finally discuss passive radiative cooling with albedo enhancement at the poles, including all third poles? I bet lobby, PR, and media will mess this up too until nothing is left.

EL NINO BOOSTS GLOBAL WARMING - POSSIBLE NEAR 2°C 2027
The 2023-4 strong El Nino boosted global warming by 0.3°C.
July 2023–June 2024 saw a record 0.36 °C year‑over‑year rise.
2010-2012 was one of the most powerful El Niños
A record 2026-27 El Niño could push warming near 2°C. Graph by BBC, 11 Jun2 2026. #ElNino #climatechange #globalwarming

Sorry 😔 what?
‘“We are in a time of crisis, not only in this room but in the world.”
After a week of contentious deliberations and some displays of temper, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) suspended its 65th session without an agreement on either a timeline for the remainder of its Seventh Assessment Cycle or even a budget for the coming year.’

Is a daily global surface temperature anomaly more than 2.0°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline coming by the end of next week?
All the stars will be at the big event. Even the Climate 8-Ball will be there. Don't miss out!

Replying to @bratananium @PaulHBeckwith
You're welcome.
It is quite plausible that ASR (clouds), not GHGs, is driving EEI and temperature based on this data.

Several indicators also show evidence of accelerating trends or abrupt shifts, raising concerns about increasing climate instability, interacting feedbacks, and the growing risk of crossing critical tipping points.

SCIENTISTS: Rapid destabilization of the climate system is accelerating, intensifying, and increasingly interacting with global biodiversity destruction as Earth’s life-support systems are pushed beyond stable limits, and changes unfold faster than humanity's ability to respond.

New paper by the World’s most prominent climate scientists shows rapid acceleration of human-caused warming, with a warming rate now that tracks to near 2.4°C by 2050, far faster than was expected, if it continues.
From paper: “We are witnessing the rapid destabilization of the Earth’s climate system. This is no longer a warning for the future; it is a diagnosis of the present. Earth’s life-support systems are being pushed beyond stable limits, with changes unfolding faster than our ability to respond. Human activities are driving profound shifts in the atmosphere, oceans, and biosphere.”
