You can buy an 8 GPU node for the cost of renting on AWS for about 2 months. It’s amazing to me how many companies and labs get sucked into the expensive trap of cloud compute.

If there was one thing I wish I could get every American to understand it's this map. Being "closer to nature" doesn't make you greener. Cities are greener because people ditch cars & live in smaller spaces. Every apartment not built in a city pushes more people out into the red.

I've been configuring batch schedulers on high performance computing (HPC) systems for about 20 years.
About 14 years ago, my work started to include HPC environments that ran, at least in part, on public clouds.
