The problem with modern sex/dating comes down to three points 1. All sane rules for regulating sex/dating involve a radical contraction of female sexual optionality. 2. Women don’t want men to regulate female sexual optionality because that feels “oppressive”. 3. Women don’t want to regulate each others sexual optionality because that makes them look like “pick me’s”. Thus, no change ever occurs, even though almost everyone understands that something needs to be done.

The reason HR exists is because of Civil Rights laws. Once a company hits 100 employees, it’s mandated by law that management has to report demographics to the EEOC once a year. At the same time title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights act allows plaintiffs to sue for discrimination damages. But enforcement isn’t clear cut, lawsuits and EEOC enforcement are unpredictable, so companies try to adhere to a nebulous and ever evolving set of “best practices” to avoid getting sued or hammered by the EEOC. This is why companies hire HR professionals. The Civil Rights act replaced the Constitution in 1964.
Our team had several reqs out for months and I recommended two people for the role. They applied which was essentially throwing their resume into the Byzantine corporate HR shredder. I asked the hiring manager is he saw their applications come in and he said no. Somewhere someone who has no concept of the role made a call that these people would be poor applicants and the interviews never took place.

You could almost perfectly derive my morals just by assuming it's whatever liberals find shocking and weird
I assume the goal of this video is to make Amish culture seem foolish, given this girl’s slight speech impediment and awkward mannerisms, but what exactly is the problem here? There’s no promiscuity or baby killing or digital prostitution; I’m supposed to think that’s bad?

Boys seem to nearly universally - usually in their early teenage years - experience something that breaks their hearts in such a specific way as to emotionally cauterize them. So many of them go from being sweet little guys to internally numbed, externally nonchalant performers.

Aubrey Plaza offers to strip completely naked in high heels if Quentin Tarantino puts her in his final movie "Tarantino, where the fuck are you? I'll do anything. Tarantino, anything you want." "I am her manager. She will not do anything, and the feet are off the table." "Tarantino, it's Aubrey. Guess what? I'll do anything you want." "Babe, it's extra for the feet, honey." "Naked in heels, Tarantino!" "Can't wait. God, I can't wait for whatever is the scary-ass shit he's going to make put me through again. Definitely don't care about anything."

Almost nobody realizes that just about every liberal feel-good nostrum has been tested by liberal social scientists over the last 60 years, with practically none of them turning out true. That was already fairly well established when I started reading social science in 1972.

I went to private schools my whole life. One of the striking things from that is that I only encountered three of the four quadrants: rich-smart, rich-dumb, and poor-smart. I never had to deal with the poor-dumb. This strikes me as noteworthy, for my own sense of the world.

Several years ago I called Notre Dame and asked if they had an arborist and they of course do. They connected me to him and I was like “We are coming up in a couple weeks, what’s the leaf situation up there right now.” He laughed and said I was the first person to ever call and asks that. We hit it perfect that year and the pictures we took looked like AI.

If it weren't for the way the ADA was written, every 2nd and 3rd floor of downtown buildings in all of America's small towns could look like this. Instead, most of these units are empty and in ruins. All because the ADA would require them to install an elevator...
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The ADA does not require elevators for upper floors in most small or existing residential/commercial buildings, and the Fair Housing Act allows non-elevator multifamily buildings (only ground-floor units need accessibility features). ada.gov/resources/titl… hud.gov/sites/default/… access-board.gov/ada/guides/cha…

In 1939, France carried out its last public execution by guillotine, marking the end of a grim era in the nation's history Eugen Weidmann was a German-born criminal and serial killer.

The bike lane fad is dying. Installing them in places where the community didn’t ask for them was always a foolish attempt to appease a fringe group of people who have broader anti-car ideology. The bike lanes snarl traffic. They make emergency responses harder. They make snowplowing and street sweeping harder. They appeal only to a small subset of the demographic. And worst of all, they go unused in places like Toronto and Chicago that have bad weather most of the year. Not all bike lanes are bad but at this point all the low hanging fruit in terms of practical places for them has been picked. What’s left was passed over. So the overzealous DSAs with degrowth agendas in mind need to hunt and search for new locations. And they almost always end up choosing badly. They flew too close to the sun and the sun has melted their wings.

One of the nice things about Catholic schools is they are uncompromising and unapologetically Catholic and you can take it or leave it.
muslim in my neighborhood mom group asking if the catholic schools will accommodate or provide exemptions for her muslim child... why can't they just leave us alone? I wouldn't enroll my catholic child in a muslim school and feel entitled to exceptions.
