Believe or not, but U-Boot now has TCP support: source.denx.de/u-boot/u-boot…. And on top of that, HTTP has been implemented as part of a new "wget" command: source.denx.de/u-boot/u-boot…. So you can now use HTTP as an alternative to TFTP in U-Boot!

Last week, I was teaching our new embedded Linux course at a customer in Austria, and everything was perfect: passionate engineers, great organization and an amazing venue. In particular, the coffee was excellent and brewed by a Linux distribution generated by the @yoctoproject.
