Honored to see Kentucky’s growing film industry gaining national recognition, and especially proud to see Senate President Robert Stivers will be recognized by @motionpictures as a 2026 Industry Champion tonight in Washington, D.C. Under Stivers’ leadership, Kentucky has taken important steps to strengthen its film and television industry, creating opportunities for Kentucky talent, supporting small businesses and bringing new economic activity to communities across the Commonwealth. His recent bill, Senate Bill 324, modernized and strengthened the commonwealth’s film and entertainment incentive program to attract high-impact productions and drive economic growth. His bill, now law: -allows any unallocated portion of the current $75 million annual tax credit cap to be carried forward to use in future years for major motion pictures and entertainment productions - enhances oversight and coordination by requiring the Kentucky Film Office to review applications, request additional information when necessary and forward completed applications to the Cabinet for Economic Development and the Kentucky Film Leadership Council. As Stivers has said, the real credit belongs to the people in Kentucky’s film industry who have helped guide this work. With the right investments and a focus on results, Kentucky can continue growing as a destination for production, while showcasing our communities to audiences around the world.
