Due to the recent attack ads in Ohio by the Ramaswamy campaign I am donating the maximum allowable by law to Amy Acton. I’m a life long Republican I don’t know @amyactonoh or her policies and frankly I don’t care. Some things are bigger than party.

The most underrated word in American politics today is “decency.” Most of us try to be good parents, good neighbors, good colleagues, good citizens. Decent people. A political movement built on gleeful cruelty, open racism, wanton lies, and proud loutishness won’t last.

Can any of the anti-fraud Republicans tell us: -Who owns the offshore account in Qatar that holds $400M in seized Venezuelan oil money? -What happened with the $1B sent to Trump's "Board of Peace"? -Who owns the Qatari gifted Air Force One? -Why more than 50 people who received pardons did so after major donations to Trump or major partnerships with his family's businesses? -How much public money has been spent at Trump golf courses? -Who front ran market moving announcements on the war to the tune of more than $20B? -Why public contracts are going to businesses of Trump allies and cost more than 10x the normal rates? If not, maybe it's time to shut the hell up about corruption.
Vote straight ticket Republican if you want our committees to continue doing things like investigating fraudsters and going after birth tourism companies instead of being turned into weapons of political retribution against people whose only crime was wanting to make government more efficient.

You know what's crazy to me? 1% of the U.S. population is Muslim. 1% of the U.S. population is transgender. 1.6% of U.S. men identify as gay. 1.4% of U.S. women identify as lesbian. But these statistic’s make up 100% of MAGA's talking points.

If this is accurate, Elon lied about not having control over Starshield, and he lied about the administration making the decision. More importantly, why is a private citizen even *able* to make decisions that could hinder US military operations?
Incredible scoop by my @WSJ colleagues: Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration. wsj.com/world/ukraine-starli…

ELON FANS WON'T LIKE THIS ONE... BUT HERE ARE 10 BIG THINGS ELON PROMISED THAT NEVER HAPPENED: The New York Times went through 15 years of his posts and interviews. He made 602 promises with a date on them. Only 1 in 5 happened on time. Here are some of them: 1. In 2015 he said Teslas would fully drive themselves in 2 or 3 years. 11 years later, you still have to keep your eyes on the road. 2. In 2016 he said a Tesla would drive itself from LA to New York by the end of 2017. It never did. 3. In 2019 he said there would be 1 million robotaxis by 2020. Today there's a small service in Austin. With a safety person sitting inside. 4. In 2017 he said the new Tesla Roadster would come out in 2020. They just showed it this month. Now it's coming in 2028. 5. For years he talked about a cheap $25,000 Tesla. Then he dropped it and called the idea "pointless." 6. In 2016 he said SpaceX would send a ship to Mars by 2018. Later he said people would be on Mars by 2024. Nobody has gone. Not even an empty rocket. 7. In 2013 he said Hyperloop would take you from LA to San Francisco in 35 minutes. What we got is Teslas driving through a tunnel in Las Vegas. 8. When he bought Twitter, he said a team would be set up before any big decisions on banned accounts. That team never showed up. 9. With DOGE he promised $2 trillion in government cuts. Studies found it saved almost nothing. 10. He said his AI company would build AI smarter than humans by 2025. Still waiting. Yes, he's also done crazy things. Rockets that land themselves. Starlink. Making electric cars normal. But even he admits he only expects to hit his deadlines about half the time. So today he posted that he'll give one SpaceX share to every kid in America next year. That's around 73 million kids. He hasn't said how. Or who gets it. Or who pays the tax. Save this post. We'll check back in 2028. Written by: @carlmoon

Burn in hell, Trump.
This is a baby killed in a baby stroller by russian monsters in broad daylight‼️ Russia struck the central park in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region, with a jet-powered drone while it was packed with people and families. They killed at least 3, a baby and two women, and injured at least 14 more.

This is on you, MAGA. This dead child is on you. Oh, you’ll bluster and talk trash, but your Dear Leader Trump serves with the murderers in Moscow. I’d tell you to feel shame, but your souls are so dead you’ll laugh it off.
A horrific Russian strike in the Kharkiv region. A “shahed” struck people directly – in a park near an ordinary café. Pure atrocity. Six people were killed, including children. A little girl was killed in a stroller – her name was Angelina, she was just over a year old, born in August 2025… Her mother’s name was Inna. She died in the hospital… Another girl who was killed was 11 years old. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 14 people were injured, including six more children. I am grateful to everyone who supports Ukraine under these circumstances and helps us shoot down “shaheds,” shoot down missiles, and stop Russian assaults. These are horrific photos, but behind them are shattered lives and the truth about this war. Lives must be protected. Ukraine needs air defense. You can't think about making money with Russia as long as it continues its asinine war. We ask that sanctions on Russia stay in place as long as the killings continue. We ask America to be strong, and we ask it to apply the Lindsey Graham law. We ask Europe to continue its support. We ask that everything possible be done to bring peace and guarantee security. Ukraine wants peace. It is Russia that has insisted on continuing the killing all this time. The world has enough strength to stop the war. That strength must finally be used – against the murderers.

The political news media doesn’t care much about policy which is unfortunate because it really should be remarked more often that Republicans, with a governing trifecta, have passed almost nothing but a major tax cut that gutted healthcare and massively increased inequality.
Republicans have passed just one major defining piece of legislation in the past two years. Yet, not one Republican wants to utter its name during the midterm campaigns. Why? Because it was such a failure. The bill was the "One Big Beautiful Bill". It cut over $130 billion in Medicaid funding for rural areas. Rural hospitals are struggling so much that they're shutting down. It caused millions of Americans to lose their healthcare. Medical debt and illnesses are leading causes of bankruptcy in the US. It kicked over 1 million hungry children off of food assistance. It did all of this to shift a greater burden onto the poorest Americans while giving huge tax breaks to the wealthiest. The top 1% now hold as much wealth as the bottom 90%. It is exploding the deficit. The deficit was $2 trillion this year, and the OBBB will add trillions more to the deficit in the coming years. So instead of calling it the OBBB, they're calling it the "Working Family Tax Cuts" to make it sound like a good thing. Those tax cuts for working families are small. The average tax refund increased by $350. But the average household paid $1,500 in tariffs last year. You weren't taxed less. You were taxed more. The no-tax-on-tips and overtime weren't as advertised and expire in December 2028. The corporate and billionaire tax breaks are permanent. That shows who Republicans are really working for. Why would anyone want two more years of that?

You just can’t let him get away with stuff like this. The stock trades, the Emirati investment in the crypto company, the sons’ getting government contracts, the pardons to people who donated to him, his net worth going up billions in his first year in office. Come on!

"If there is to be any hope that the democracies, and especially what was once the greatest of them all, will retain or regain their moral compass, we must all keep shouting from the rooftops: “This is a lie!”; “That is a lie!”; “The leader of the United States is lying!”

Actually we were correct to note Trump’s routinely bizarre, obsequious posture toward Putin. Just because you chose not to see it until now when it’s shoved directly in everyone’s face doesn’t make us hysterical, it makes you transparently wrong all along.
There's been a lot of hysteria over the years at Trump's posture towards Russia, which has often been worse rhetorically than practically. But this time, the wolf comes as a wolf.

Former Romney Republican here. We’re not even just *moderate* Dems now, we’re pretty left. Hell even Romney wrote an article about taxing the rich. Why the change? In the past 14 years the world changed. Income inequality got worse. Affordability got worse. Corporate control got worse. Moderate Republicans of 15-20+ years ago believed in one core premise: “A small government staying out of your way, to pursue the American dream” That’s a world where unions exist, where a single full time job can afford a home, and families don’t go bankrupt on medical care. That dream is not available any more. And the hateful bigots and culture-war faux-Christians who took over the Republican Party have no interest in it. So no, Romney Republicans are not “up for grabs” We voted for Hilary. We want to tax the rich. We want to affordable healthcare. We want better labor rights. We believe in codifying Roe v Wade - because a government has no place in your private healthcare decisions. There is no longer a path to the American Dream without a rework of the system. The rot is too deep. And since you cannot pursue with liberty and dignity that life, *anyone* who truly cared about those things moved Left a loooong time ago. The current crop of “Romney Republicans” who actually voted for Trump are just calling themselves that to try and save face, because they sold out this nation and their values either for hatred or greed - and they know the got conned.
The 2012 election was 14 years ago. Romney Republicans are either Trump Republicans or moderate Democrats, they haven't been up for grabs for a decade now xitter.cf/CaseStudyQB/status/211…

“Elon Musk approached Donald Trump with the idea of slowing down Starlink in Ukraine, The Telegraph can reveal. The billionaire tech entrepreneur approached the US president with the proposal to introduce speed limits on the system, which hampered Ukraine’s drone defences, according to four sources familiar with the discussions. One of the sources said Mr Trump “agreed” with Mr Musk’s suggestion, paving the way for the Pentagon to execute the slowdown on Starshield, the military-grade version of the satellite communications system.

Ossoff: Immediate policy priorities include repeal of the tariffs, an end to the war, repeal of the Medicaid cuts, restoration of Affordable Care Act benefits — those are things that can immediately relieve the American people's economic suffering. But there does have to be accountability, and I want to be clear that when I say accountability, I don't mean vengeance. I don't mean something punitive and partisan. But we're a nation of laws in which our Constitution vests the Congress with vital oversight functions. And when we face abuses of power and corruption of this magnitude, literally unprecedented in the history of the American presidency, as members of Congress, we have an obligation to investigate and to ensure that those facts become public and that there's accountability for misdeeds.

Still wild to me that Ben Affleck understands AI better than almost anyone in AI.
Ben Affleck says AI is simply matrix multiplication, linear algebra and floating point calculations, and however convincingly it sounds like a person, it has nothing to do with thought, humanity or feeling “Nor do I believe, and I think it’s important to draw the distinction between what AI does, which is simply predict the next token or the next word in a sentence, then add that word on, run it back to the machine, do a lot of computation and pick the next word." "That is a very different thing than sentience or thought. And I think we need to be really clear about that because it can be convincingly, in an illusory way, sound like thought or like a person." "But let’s be real clear. This is matrix multiplication. This is linear algebra. These are floating point calculations. It has nothing to do with thought, humanity, or feeling.”
