From first lines of Daml to tackling economic challenges!
Proud to have brought this together with @cantor8, @camblockchains and @iclblockchain connecting curious minds across disciplines to build on @CantonNetwork.
We also had an amazing talk by @viv_diwakar (the Head of the Canton Foundation) that got everyone inspired @CantonFdn
Thank you to @acme_markets for being the official experience partner, and @CantonArmy + @LunarStrategy for being our media partners 🚀
To everyone who took part: keep building. We can’t wait to see what you do next!
Meet some of the incredible builders that joined for Cantor8's 'Build on @CantonNetwork' Hackathon.
Every team chose one of three different tracks to attack, each of which came with its own unique challenges, from working ab initio with Daml, through to economic problems.
We hope to see you next time...

Spent today at the Cantor8 Build on Canton hackathon and built a Drift watchdog that catches the moment an app's database quietly drifts out of sync with the real Canton ledger, then heals itself automatically.
Fun day and great people @mingthemerxiles and Dr Aduka.
Genuinely fun problem to dig into.

Existing Solidity apps can deploy on Canton through Zenith without a single line of code changed.
EVM transactions route natively through the Global Synchronizer, with the EVM leg and Canton leg committing simultaneously in the same consensus, no bridge, no separate settlement.
Canton processes $9T+ in monthly settlement volume. 600+ institutions including JPMorgan, DTCC, Goldman Sachs, Broadridge, and Visa run production operations on it. Until Zenith, the only way to access that ecosystem as a developer was to learn Daml, a powerful language purpose-built for institutional contracts and entirely unfamiliar to most of the developer community that built DeFi.
Zenith brings EVM execution to @CantonNetwork with SVM coming next. Existing Solidity applications deploy on Canton without a single line of code changed. Hardhat, Foundry, MetaMask, the full Ethereum developer toolkit works exactly as expected. Every EVM transaction routes natively through Canton's Global Synchronizer, composing atomically with Daml-native contracts, tokenized assets, and institutional workflows already live on the network.
This isn't EVM compatibility layered on top of Canton through a bridge or a separate settlement mechanism, it's native execution inside Canton's own consensus, both the EVM leg and the Canton leg of every transaction committing simultaneously, with Canton's determinism guarantees maintained and no additional trust assumptions introduced.

A recent YC startup spent 250k on a domain. I was slightly shocked. But when I asked how much they raised after YC, the answer was 6.5m. So 1/26 of their round. This is the time we live in; one shocking number counterbalances the other.

Happy to be partners and co-organisers on the Cantor8 university initiatives and to be part of events like Cantor Bytes. Look out for the next one!
Thank you again to our friends at @iclblockchain for a fantastic 'Cantor Bytes' event at Imperial College London.
A valuable opportunity to introduce the London University ecosystem to @CantonNetwork and part of what makes it unique.
Thank you to everyone who attended 'Cantor Bytes' last weekend at Imperial College London!
On Sunday, June 28th, we hosted our official ‘Cantor Bytes’ event at Imperial College London, alongside our partners at @iclblockchain.
We were overwhelmed by the turnout, calibre and number of students that got involved with our @CantonNetwork focused technical challenge, designed to introduce Canton-native and Daml development to some of the UK’s best young talent.
The event itself was a precursor to our full Canton-focused hackathon, scheduled to take place in August 2026 - an event which will also include students and researchers from both Oxford @blockchainox and Cambridge @camblockchains universities.
See you all again soon.

New Anglofuturism episode: Oxford's startup monastery
We visited HomeDAO: a newly-founded, über-competitive and highly successful start-up accelerator. If there is to be a British PayPal mafia then it is quite likely that it will emerge from this hacker house in Oxford.
Part 1 is out today. Calum and I talked to Josh Lavorini, a HomeDAO co-founder, about talent identification, taste, Oxford, the Coase theorem, British unicorns, the shortcomings of Old Street, and plenty more.

Research Update: The World’s First Private AI Agent Payment Settles on Canton
Last month, we announced fresh funding to a researcher at Cambridge University to support the development of a Canton-native standard protocol for AI agents - p402.
On April 23, the world’s first fully private AI agent settled its first transaction on @CantonNetwork, as a vital first step towards the construction of p402 itself.
p402 is a direct response to an issue raised by leading VC @a16z just days ago…
“There is still no broadly adopted, interoperable way for one agent to prove to another who it represents, what it’s allowed to do, and how it gets paid.”
