According to social media, a WBHM show host has used "area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico" and "area south of Gulf Shores."
This is commendable, and also a comical reflection on the situation.
Another ridiculous infringement on news media freedom. Only this time it’s local.

1–After 27 years on death row, Jimmie Duncan’s murder conviction was overturned in June by the Louisiana Supreme Court.
But while Duncan is grateful to no longer be confined to the tiny cell at Angola prison, I learned that he is still not truly free. THREAD:
As S&WB sorts out responsibility and fixes for problems with its new power system, officials say the huge engineering firm that led the project didn't advise them properly. Jacobs Solutions designed and managed the project on a contract that grew from $600K to $22M over six years

State senator says reporters are “sowing division” by reporting which companies government officials have signed NDAs with
What Secretary Bourgeois is saying is correct. The reporters are doing a good job sowing division & suspicion but if she publicized every prospect & discussion it would jeopardize most projects…which create JOBS. Those r the things that bring 💰 to people/businesses that pay for adverts that allow news outlets to pay salaries #lalege

Drew Brees stats that sound fake but aren't (full thread):
I started this series after seeing way too much Drew Brees disrespect online and decided that people needed a reminder of who Drew Brees is.

Not the biggest news yesterday (obviously), but an S&WB release offered assurances its new $300M power complex is reliable -- despite S&WB officials' public statements this week that they'll switch to backup power during storms. (1/6)
The S&WB release yesterday said "recent public statements characterizing the Power Complex as unreliable are inaccurate."
The release did not:
-refer to any public statement
-retract anything said at the meeting
-attribute or quote any S&WB officials
-offer any new facts (5/6)
The omission of any S&WB official in the release is curious, since Entergy New Orleans CEO Deanna Rodriguez is quoted affirming the grid reliability. (6/6)

Never good when the GRAF model starts lobbing 15-20" rainfall hot spots of over the next 48-72 hours.
Weather Prediction Center's new numbers are higher as well...most of this falls between Tuesday and tapering by Friday, with Tuesday - Thursday having the highest potential for most widespread flooding somewhere in Louisiana.
Given the WPC Forecast and Latest GRAF we can say in Acadiana rainfall totals will range from 3-6" from St Mary Parish to 5-10" farther to the north and west....most of this comes by Thursday. And statistically there could be isolated amounts double the WPC estimates (which is what we're seeing in the GRAF on this run).
The WPC has leveled up with their excessive rainfall outlooks putting much of the state in a slight to moderate risk (levels 2 & 3 out of 4) for potential flooding through the end of the week.
Of course the estimates will change, in some cases drastically from one model run to the next, but the GRAF has rarely steered us wrong when red-flagging a potential flood event in the summer tropics.
Will post this morning's GRAF Model run in the comments below...hope we see lower numbers in the afternoon run. #lawx
