My dad immigrated from Cuba in 1961, and UC Berkeley admitted him as an intl student for all of $35 a semester. He worked 20 hours a week in a movie theater to pay for everything. And was welcomed into the beginning of Silicon Valley because of his education. Just 60 years ago!
