Personally, I don't think that if you play less than an average of one game per week, you should be counted as an active professional player. So I consider this 2-year PR table the REAL world ranking (as of September 1 2026).
Here are the performance rankings for the exact 24-month period that FIDE used to determine the winners of the FIDE Excellence Awards! 👀 (Based on the whole 24 months, no one in the Top 20 is under-rated except for one player: Zhu Jiner!)

However, in the past weeks (inspired by Machteld van Foreest and @GothamChess), I came to a new conclusion about why there are so few women at the top: they are more intelligent than the men! As they know it's not worth it, to be so monomaniacal to try to break into the top 100.

I fear that's how Hal exacerbated her condition. Beautiful! #TheDiplomat

For 20 years I said The West Wing without hesitation, but #TheDiplomat is giving it a run for its money.
What is the best TV series you’ve ever seen? And you can’t list Mad Men, Seinfeld, The Wire, Breaking Bad, GoT, sopranos, or The Office.

#TheDiplomat S4 finale spoiler: for Hal to resign instead of waiting for Article 25 or the like, is such a bold move. He can't go back without an election. Is it love, conscience, the long game, waiting for another election cycle or two, or just the rat leaving the sinking ship?

Hey, @netflix for #TheDiplomat you should add a fourth rating possibility!

Rose Atwell uncorks a slew of brilliant moves to beat the 3-time defending champion Carissa Yip (!!), all but ending her hopes of a four-peat! chess.com/events/2026-us-che… 📷: Crystal Fuller

That's exactly my problem with it. It's too much like Trauma Code. (The original Japanese Doctor X had a different flair!)

HUGE SHOCK!!!! The bottom seed Megan Paragua (who is only 13!) upsets the top seed (and 3-time defending champion!) Carissa Yip w/ Black! 🤯 Carissa blundered mate w/ 10 seconds on the clock! 😱 chess.com/events/2026-us-che… 📷: STL Chess Club

Maybe the only player to make a great start in the US Women's Championship was the bottom seed: 13-year-old Megan Paragua (2234)! Megan scored a comprehensive victory over last year's runner-up IM Anna Sargsyan! 😮 chess.com/events/2026-us-che… 📷: Crystal Fuller

THE MOST DESERVING GOLD MEDALLIST! 🇮🇳🥇 Congrats to Savitha Shri on winning Board 5 gold! 🥳🎉😀 She scored a mind-boggling 9/10 (!!), but it was the importance of each of those points that made her Olympiad so special! 👏👏 📷: M Walusza

I like and admire Divya, but giving her the FIDE excellence award over Zhu Jiner is just crazy talk. This is the women's 24 month performance rating.
