PHP users are encouraged to prepare to update. Earlier release if details become public or active exploit evidence.

#PHP 8.6 turns on three session settings that should have been default 20 years ago. 🔐
session.use_strict_mode goes from 0 to 1, so the engine REFUSES a session ID it never issued. That flag kills session fixation.
session.cookie_httponly goes to 1 and session.cookie_samesite becomes "Lax".
RFC session_security_defaults, by Jorg Adam Sowa. Custom handler? Implement validateId().
ALT PHP 8.6 session ini defaults: use_strict_mode becomes 1, cookie_httponly becomes 1, cookie_samesite becomes Lax, from the session_security_defaults RFC.
