Medicine is a calling, it’s a mission in the service of humanity. At a time when many things around us will make us question our “why” may we find strength & vision to look back at reasons that made us choose this path. To learn, to give, to serve, to teach;that is my purpose 🙏

Zero: the number of COVID patients with a booster in my unit during the last wave.
Many more: the beds available for taking care of every patient in need, with or without COVID.
Thank you all for getting vaccinated. You have helped and saved many lives.

Until we look at ICU occupancy rates to see if we can absorb the next wave, we will miss that each COVID bed we make is one less bed for other diseases.
To care for everything else, we must bring COVID19 under control.

ICU and healthcare resources in general are not unlimited.
When you choose to get vaccinated, you are not just protecting yourself from COVID. You are helping to keep resources so that we can look after patients with other diseases too.
You are choosing to help others.
