Welcome to country has no place at an ANZAC dawn service.
This is a day to reflect on the sacrifices made by the brothers and sisters who bled and bleed green.
The booing was poor form, but I get it, i really do, because I was rolling my eyes too, saying FFS under my breath.

The stuff uncovered in the Twitter whistleblower report is much crazier than anything in the "Twitter files" but it's much less politically/tribally salient so it got no attention. Going to do a thread on some of the craziest things, in no particular order.

The editors of the Guardian, NY Times etc. finally speak up for Julian #Assange -- weasel words and 10 years late. Ten years after the Guardian made public WikiLeaks' secret password and launched a campaign of vilification against a truthteller.

Aaron Swartz would have been 36 today.
Aaron committed suicide after being sentenced to 35 years in prison by US authorities for transferring and sharing scientific articles from JSTOR.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Swartz was never convicted or sentenced to prison. After declining a plea bargain in which he'd serve six months in jail, he committed suicide before trial.

Signal's also end to end encrypted!
AND unlike WhatsApp we don't collect intimate metadata like profile info, who's talking to whom, who's in a group.
Signal's also a nonprofit, not owned by big tech = we're not one bad earnings report away from killing privacy for profit.
As @AGKarlRacine points out, end-to-end encryption is an important tool and we want more people to know about it. WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted by default. On Messenger, anyone can opt in to encrypted chats and that will become the default setting next year.
