20 OCTOBER 2020 - 20 OCTOBER 2026
SIX YEARS AFTER #ENDSARS: REMEMBRANCE, TRUTH & ACCOUNTABILITY
Six years ago today, Nigerians gathered at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos as part of a nationwide movement demanding an end to police brutality, abuse of power and institutional impunity. They were exercising their right to peaceful protest and calling for meaningful reform.
On the evening of 20 October 2020, soldiers arrived at the toll gate and gunfire followed. Eyewitness accounts, video recordings and independent investigations documented the violence. The Lagos State Judicial Panel subsequently concluded that security forces shot and killed unarmed protesters. Government authorities disputed aspects of its findings, including the death toll, but the events left victims, survivors and families seeking justice.
The questions extend beyond Lekki.
In July 2023, an official Lagos State document revealed approval of N61.285 million for the mass burial of 103 bodies associated with the wider October 2020 unrest. The government maintained that none was recovered from Lekki Toll Gate and later suspended the proposed burial.
Who were these individuals? Where were their bodies recovered? What caused their deaths? Were their families contacted? What ultimately happened to their remains?
Another case deserving attention is that of journalist Pelumi Onifade, who disappeared on 24 October 2020 while covering events in Lagos. In June 2026, DNA evidence identified his remains. A subsequent post-mortem report confirmed that he died from a gunshot injury. His case demonstrates the importance of preserving forensic evidence and pursuing answers, however long they take.
In July 2024, the ECOWAS Court found violations of the fundamental rights of three #EndSARS protesters, awarded compensation and ordered further measures. The judgment added a judicial dimension to the continuing demands for accountability without determining the disputed death toll at Lekki.
The movement was never solely about one night or one location. It challenged a culture in which citizens could suffer abuses at the hands of institutions established to protect them. Its demands for responsible policing, respect for constitutional rights and effective oversight remain relevant.
Six years later, remembrance must carry a responsibility beyond commemorative messages. Every death deserves proper investigation, affected families deserve answers, and anyone found responsible for unlawful conduct must be held accountable.
That obligation does not depend on political affiliation or which administration holds power. It is fundamental to the relationship between government and the governed.
Six years have passed. The responsibility to establish the truth and deliver justice remains.
May those who died rest in peace. May Nigeria learn from its history and do better.
20.10.2020. Six years on. We remember.

Dear Believers,
Jesus said, "Greater works than these shall he do" (John 14 vs 12).
But have we considered what He meant by greater works, especially when He added, "because I go unto my Father"?
That promise should be understood in the context of His continuing mission through believers, rather than turned into a competition to surpass the miracles, mysteries and supernatural events recorded in Scripture.
Supernatural manifestations have their place in the New Testament. Through the apostles, signs and wonders accompanied the proclamation of the gospel, demonstrated God's power and directed attention to Christ. They were never presented as a competition for spiritual superiority.
Yet today, the growing obsession with increasingly astonishing claims risks overshadowing the very mission we have been called to fulfil.
The spread of the gospel, transformed lives, genuine compassion, discipleship and the lasting impact of faith deserve our attention. These are central to the Christian mission, whether or not extraordinary manifestations accompany them.
We have a mission to fulfil, not a biblical record to outperform.

2026 is really testing everyone’s faith in ways we can’t even explain💔
Behind so many smiles are people silently falling apart, people who are tired but have no choice but to keep going because life doesn’t stop for anyone.
Almost everyone is fighting a battle nobody knows about. Some are struggling financially, some are emotionally drained, some are mentally exhausted, and some are just trying to make it through another day without breaking down.
This year has taken so much from so many of us. Some days, we’re not even living; we’re just surviving, hoping things will get better somehow.
If nobody has told you this lately, I hope you know that you’re doing well, even if all you’ve managed to do today is get out of bed and keep going.
May the rest of this year be kinder to us all. May we find the peace we’ve been praying for, the strength to keep going, and the happiness we’ve been missing.
Sending so much love and the warmest hugs to everyone who is silently struggling❤️🩹
May we all have a reason to smile again💔

This by-fire-by-force approach some of you are adopting just to qualify for the new revenue-sharing programme may leave you with regrets that no amount of money earned from the platform can undo.
The desperation for engagement is pushing some of you into increasingly reckless statements without sufficient thought for the consequences.
Please, tone this madness down. For your own sake.

Life can humble you in ways you never imagined. The position you hold today should make you more compassionate, not more arrogant.

Never be ashamed of starting again.
Starting again doesn’t mean you failed at life.
Sometimes, you simply gained experience, discovered what wasn’t working, and found the courage to try differently.
Give yourself permission to rebuild. 💪❤️

Teachers also have bills, family problems, emotional struggles and dreams. Do not assume that because someone teaches others, they have life figured out.

Sometimes, the prayer isn’t for a luxury car or a mansion.
Sometimes, it’s simply:
“God, please let me pay my bills without anxiety, take care of my family without struggling, and sleep peacefully knowing tomorrow will be okay.”
Financial peace is a huge blessing 🙏❤️
