3PLs and brands using ShipHero have picked, packed and shipped over 1 million orders so far today in what is shaping up to be a record peak season. I so appreciate the software engineers and platform engineers on the @weareshiphero team. Y'all have done an amazing job on the speed and stability of the WMS. From myself, from your ShipHero co-workers, and I think I can say from our users on this one - thank you.

Dealing with something unpleasant in my personal life. To cheer myself up… @beuno you joined ShipHero to run a small engineering team. Haha, jokes on you. @raven_xs I don’t know what you thought the job was going to be when you took it, but I bet you didn’t think you would spend a decade of your life optimizing warehouse related processes. @yohaas you were afraid you would do coding + support + everything else. Haha it happened and you are still doing it. @russelh15 from designing our first screens to coding Put 2 Light systems on Arduino boards. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the GT-R

🔍 @weareshiphero needed an efficient observability platform. 🎯 HNY emerged as the clear winner for its ease of use, in-depth visibility, and cost efficiency. Check out our new case study to see why "Honeycomb isn't just a tool; it's a revolution..." 👀 go.hny.co/3GuR8Nu

Looking for someone to interview for a piece on how to build an ecommerce brand 👀 Ideally someone who's done it successfully a few times already.

As a startup some of the best decisions come by doing the exact opposite of what has been done before; and equally some of the biggest mistakes come from trying to reinvent things that won’t change. The fun is figuring out which decision is in which category.

A lot of startups fail. I was lucky enough to be part of a startup that has transitioned into a successful company. Here's some of the things that I've learned along the way as a software engineer.

As a C-level or VP, you are going to have to make people uncomfortable or unhappy on a fairly regular basis. It comes with the territory. Even as a director, delivering disappointing news is a regular part of a healthy diet. You can't make decisions based on avoiding this pain.

Shopify is spending $4B on an offering that competes head to head with mine. And they own the platform. And my team is still going to win.

A few more things came to mind after posting this thread on advice for managers who are trying to become directors. Good directors know how to balance tech, business, people...and budgets. Managers don't usually have to deal with budgeting, but directors do.
We are hiring a director of platform engineering at honeycomb: jobs.lever.co/honeycomb/e0d3…. Because of this, I've chatted with a few managers who have been trying unsuccessfully to advance to the director role. Here is the advice I've had for them; I'd love to hear yours.

If you have experience shipping Class 9 dangerous goods on a regular basis or personally know someone who does (who is willing to talk to me), please DM me. (Serious responses only, please--I'm not looking for random suggestions from something you found online.) Thanks!

Y’all probably don’t even know we are in Canada! We serve about 100 customers, it is a $15M a year business. But we haven’t been taking new customers because we were at capacity. May 1st that changes! We have a 250K ft Toronto bldg with some goodies. We serve 🇺🇸 and 🇨🇦. The US?

ShipHero is expanding in the UK market. I spent the last week in warehouses around the UK. If you are in the UK and run an ecommerce warehouse, you don’t need to be hostage to Mintsoft’s dated functionality and poor support and you don’t need to write your own. We can help.
