github copilot is incredible. it just sells code other people wrote, but because it's an "AI" it is apparently allowed to launder that code without it being a "derivative work". lol. lmao. what an amazing grift.

Don’t forget to play with your code. Don’t forget to do weird stuff in CSS. This is genuine code written in CSS. Change the code or the selector. And don’t forget to play with your code. codepen.io/jonneal/pen/ZErVV…

I've now been asked multiple times for my take on Elon's offer for Twitter. So fine, this is what I think about that. I will assume the takeover succeeds, and he takes Twitter private. (I have little knowledge/insight into how actual takeover battles work or play out) (long 🧵)

A problem that is endemic to the whole developer community is the urge to "rewrite everything". It is the one of the most harmful practices in software engineering. Why? (thread)

Please excuse the dust, I just put this together quickly out of necessity but still, I have something of a portfolio online now! davemc.me/ — Appreciate sharing for those looking for a remote UI/Product Designer!
I didn't see it ending this way. None of us did and I will forever be grateful to @avalonstar for the opportunity. TL;DR — @altairdottv has come to a close and as Design Lead, I'm looking to find a replacement role! DM's are open. Details in 🧵👇🏻 [1/3]

🔥 TypeScript Tip #10 🔥 Using a crazy trick I picked up from @AndaristRake, you can throw detailed error messages for type checks. Here, I move a runtime check in a function to the type level, meaning you get a detailed error if you use it wrong.

I would like you to meet Polina Kovaleva. Polina is a 26-year-old glamorous Russian girl from London🇬🇧. She lives in a huge apartment in Kensington and loves to party, her instagram feed looks like a non-stop holiday. That’s not unheard of, but there is one small detail…(THREAD)

Strongly seconded. Web development is hard, because we are constantly raising the bar. The tooling is a symptom of that, not the cause, and we should be glad it's there.
Replying to @bentlegen
6/ There is an attitude out there that web development was "solved, actually" in some halcyon past, and that the community has made everyone's lives worse by needlessly fixing "non-problems". I disagree, and I think this is disrespectful to tool authors. Over free software!

Whenever I finish a task I've been procrastinating on for ages that is ultimately done in less than 5 minutes, I'm like, "wow, that was amazing, I need to just do things sooner next time!" but I know I won't

Looking at Amazon's quarterly financials, it would be easy to mistake the company's $31b ad division as a serious shift in the online advertising industry, but that would be a huge mistake. You see, Amazon's not really selling *ads*. 1/

By far the most common piece of advice I repeat to developers who want to produce more content but don’t have time: **You don’t have to say something new.** It’s often much more valuable to say something timeless in a new way.

um, stolen? what do you mean? they changed hands via a legitimate transaction. it's all recorded on the blockchain, which is 100% secure and immutable and trustless. where did "stolen" come into it? hundreds of people simply decided to transfer their tokens simultaneously

Crypto miners literally bought a coal power plant to exclusively mine crypto (it was going to be decommissioned) Crypto and its harm to the environment is not an abstract, “theoretical” concept; here it is in black and white theguardian.com/technology/2…
