BREAKING: The popular Jay's Backyard BBQ restaurant in Chicago's Austin neighborhood was devastated by a kitchen fire this morning. According to reports from the Chicago Fire Department, an employee was evacuated from the kitchen after the fire broke out and they are safe. Video captured by @CourtSpinelliTV in SkyCam 9 shows the roof has collapsed. Sad news for a loved business in that community.

Wow! @JBPritzker hiked fees & taxes on IL 63x in 7.5 yrs. Ludicrous he talks about addressing affordability and cost of living to hardworking IL families while emptying their pockets. He's just another out-of-touch, finger-pointing billionaire politician blaming everyone else but himself for his failed policies and leadership. He’s the gaslight 👑
Governor JB Pritzker signed his $56B budget yesterday, bringing the number of tax and fee increases in his two terms to 63. In his two terms, his tax increases have taken a cumulative $77 billion more from taxpayers, and this does not include an additional $8.5B a year higher property taxes since 2019. Illinois residents now pay the highest state and local taxes and fees in the entire nation. Pritzker’s tax policies have throttled Illinois economy, which has produced less than 10K private sector job growth since Pritzker became governor.

.@Giannoulias you're everywhere, going to everything, and doing nothing. As Illinois Secretary of State, your responsibility is the integrity and safety of our licensing system. Yet, according to court records, a previously deported illegal immigrant using aliases and false identities; who testified he could not read, write, or communicate in either English or Spanish. But he was still issued an Illinois driver's license under your watch. Our family invested the time, money, and effort to make sure Katie was a responsible driver on our roads. We followed the rules because we believed the system existed to protect everyone. He later drove drunk at nearly 80 mph and killed my daughter, Katie. The tragedy of losing Katie is beyond words. What's nearly as heartbreaking is knowing that the officials responsible for the policies and systems that failed her, including you and @GovPritzker, appear likely to face no accountability at all. What's so disturbing is seeing you more focused on promoting political allies and public appearances than confronting the failures in your own processes that cost Illinois families their loved ones. Your indifference to these failures, and your apparent disinterest in fixing them, will continue to put lives at risk. Families like mine live with these consequences forever. .@SecDuffy and @TheJusticeDept: Illinois families need real accountability and real recourse.
Alexi Giannoulias, the Illinois secretary of state and a longtime friend of Mr. Obama, said he had been inundated by friends and acquaintances who were asking for help securing tickets to the museum. (Tickets are already sold out through November.) Mr. Giannoulias brought his family for a sneak peek of the museum last month and found himself moved to tears, he said. The museum will “bring visitors and investment to the South Side, celebrate a historic presidency with deep roots in our city and serve as a reminder that the city remains a place where big ideas and big projects can thrive,” he said, adding that the center brought a certain sense of pride to Chicagoans because of Mr. Obama’s connection to the city. @nytimes “Presidents Line Up for Obama’s Long-Awaited Center in Chicago” nytimes.com/2026/06/18/us/ob…

Oh look the Chinese guy who committed a hate crime was released by Judge D'Anthony Thedford. Remember, the judge who released a multiple-convicted felon who hijacked a CTA bus by knifepoint a month ago? Why do citizens of Chicago have to put up with this?

#Update: Prosecutors’ petition for detention was denied. Judge D’Anthony Thedford ordered Lu be released on conditions, including that he is not allowed to purchase items used to start a fire, like wood or kerosene.

Fred fucking Flintstone has fckd this state so bad businesses and people cant wait to get the f out of here. Look at the retards behind him. You can’t trust these fn people for shit
Governor Pritzker's budget relies on $800 million in new taxes. That's the opposite of affordability. Illinois families need relief from @GovPritzker's relentless tax hikes. #twill

Hey Alexi Giannoulias, tell everyone how Barack Obama and his fixer pal, ex-con Tony Rezko, were customers of your family-owned Broadway Bank, which later failed, costing taxpayers $400 million. Hope and change, baby!

NEW Illinois public schools lost more than 10% of their students over the last decade, ranking 4th-worst in the nation. While the national average declined by just 2%, Illinois lost students at five times that rate. Poor academic outcomes, like a dismal 39% math proficiency rate, and massive state outmigration are driving the collapse.
