Ah, cool... another "React Native vs Native" flamewar going on 😫 As a consultant specialising in tech transformation, I've been thinking about why developers feel they do about this for years, and I have thoughts. Let me explain, using examples of cats. 1/n

We clearly can’t trust toy companies to encourage young girls into science so it’s our job to provide role models they can look up to. If you’re a Woman in STEM feel free to drop your bio below so we can use you as examples of women girls can aspire to be! 👩🏾‍🚀👩🏻‍⚕️👩🏿‍🔬👩‍🎓👩🏼‍🏫👩🏾‍🏭

If you're wondering what "P-four-nines" means, it's the latency at the 99.99th percentile, meaning only one in 10,000 requests has a worse latency. Why do we measure latency in percentiles? A thread about how how it came to be at Amazon... xitter.cf/timbray/status/1132060…
Was in a conversation about some service refactoring and the guy said “mean latency was a bit worse, but our P-four-nines was rock-solid and only twice the mean. Customer loved it.” #CloudThinking

Indexing is delayed for pure client side sides. Google indexer is two-pass, first run is without js, then week later it's with is (or there abouts)

That $35 that scientific journals charge you to read a paper goes 100% to the publisher, 0% to the authors. If you just email us to ask for our papers, we are allowed to send them to you for free, and we will be genuinely delighted to do so. xitter.cf/mantia/status/10135597…

(Ive never been able to say this yet) 🙋Well Actually!🙋 All of Office 365 is (almost finished) being completely rewritten in this little scripting language called #JavaScript. And Skype And Microsoft Teams And @Code And all of @MSEdgeDev Debug Protocol (instead of C++) nbd xitter.cf/jdgarciauc3m/status/10…
Tip of the day. Scripting languages as first programming language for CS bachelors are WRONG. You are not able to write an OS, a DBMS, or even an Office suite with an scripting language.
