It’s always about blending
I'm mostly not a Meta Ads conspiracy theorist. But when I see all of the nudges Meta gives you to move away from Bid caps, I assume it's because they want you to use Cost Caps. Then you'll spend bad dollars on overpriced conversions–but have it look good in a blended average.

Flying @SouthwestAir flight with a CO2 monitor, and the air quality is bad and climbing steadily. Big contrast with my American Eagle flight before the holiday. (Apologies to the guy in front of me who I blasted with the icy vent air)

Scoop: Google is letting advertisers opt out of the search partner network on all campaign types, after Adalytics last week found that ads placed here ended up on sanctioned, pornographic and pirated publishers. adweek.com/media/exclusive-g…

Listen to experts about Twitter's ad product, not techbros who see themselves in Elon's outlook and politics.
Replying to @DavidSacks
Twitter has changed the core product a lot since Elon took over. The product iteration cycles are great But the ad product is still pretty lousy and has not changed much in the last year. They need to think of the SMB advertiser as a customer and give them better tools.

People outside the ad industry seem to have this idea that Twitter is a critical path for advertisers. It’s not. That’s FB and Google. Twitter’s audience can be reached elsewhere. Easily. Musk lacks leverage here.
What @elonmusk said yesterday reminds me of an absolutely legendary Steve Jobs story someone once told me that maybe 10 people know about. In the 2000's, Steve was re-negotiating the royalties for iTunes on the phone with the CEO of one of the 3 big music labels.

Nice to appear alongside @airgups23 and @HauptmanMichael here...
The @UofDigital team is thrilled to see our dynamic duo of @airgups23 & @Myles_Younger BOTH featured in today’s Association of National Advertisers (#ANA) piece on Top Marketing Predictions for 2024! There are too many fantastic insights to list them all, but here are some of our favorites: Shiv Gupta on consolidation- “some trendy areas have become too fragmented and cannot be sustained. The market will push these categories to at least begin to consolidate. These categories include streaming apps, ID solutions, data collab tools, [and] retail media." Myles Younger on 3P 🍪 deprecation- "the optimism surrounding the removal of 3P cookies from every web browser worldwide within just a year appears ambitious, considering the gradual pace of Privacy Sandbox alternatives. These alternatives, far from attaining the long-standing 'industry standard' status of third-party cookies spanning over two decades, pose a significant challenge." And 2 more from our friends @HauptmanMichael & @bd2k! Mike Hauptman on rising labor costs- "rising labor costs of ad ops and trafficking will drive a surge in automation as agencies look to punch above their weight and scale and manage complexities. Industry consolidation, RTO pressures and workflow burdens will help level the playing field for small and midsize agencies and global holding company," and thus, as a result of these changes, "CTV [will] become the most important component of an omnichannel strategy." Brian Dolan on going global- "2024 is the year the mid-tier agency will go global and win the big accounts. As the holding company continue to take a hard stance on RTO, independent and midsize agencies that are embracing remote and hybrid will gain a competitive advantage when it comes to hiring and talent, overhead, and global business. Mid-tier agencies are going virtual and doing it in a way that lets them expand into more markets and have more robust presences in those markets, enabling global pitches." Again failing to address the specifics of the adalytics reports and instead engaging in ad hominem attacks and hand waving
Adalytics has established a track record of publishing inaccurate reports that misrepresent Google’s products and make wildly exaggerated claims. 🧵

Been curious about indoor air quality and bought an aranet4. Readings have been good, including on a flight today. But then I whipped it out in an Uber. Opened the window, and showed it to the driver. Turns out he had been experiencing drowsiness while driving and wondered why.
