Amazing news @Ben__Curley. I remain super impressed but not surprised! You, Andrew and the team have demonstrated steadfast focus and outstanding execution as you make the world a better place. @Columbia_Biz @ColumbiaEship
First responders dedicate their lives to serving our communities. @sharp_usa is about serving them. It started with a small team of veterans talking with first responders and connecting over some of the hardest parts of the job. It transformed into one-on-one coaching for first responders that help them with everything from stress regulation, to sleep, to leading their teams. The result is a marketplace that connects first responders with coaches from law enforcement, fire, and military backgrounds that support and train them throughout their demanding careers. Today, we’re excited to announce an $18M Series A led by Hidden Variable with participation from @a16z, @commonwealvc, Wolfson Group, @FjLabs, and the @FordFoundation. The funding helps us bring Sharp to the millions of first responders and tens of thousands of first responder agencies across America. We’re grateful to the chiefs who’ve partnered with us, the members who’ve trusted us, and the coaches who’ve continued to do the work. Axios broke the news this morning. More on our blog. Links in the comments.

Rockstar team solving problems critical to a healthy society. Exactly who should be successfully raising to and making the world a better place. Congratulations @Ben__Curley, Andrew and team. @Columbia_Biz @ColumbiaEship
Today, we’re excited to announce an $18M Series A led by Hidden Variable with participation from @a16z, @commonwealvc, Wolfson Group, @FjLabs, and the @FordFoundation. Sharp is building the new standard for first responder job performance with confidential, one-on-one coaching from people who understand the job and the demands that come with it. Over 115 departments across 18 states, with more than 16,000 booked coaching sessions. To the chiefs, peer support leads, coaches, and members who helped get us here, thank you. Now we carry the mission forward. More departments. A better way for first responders to keep getting better throughout their careers. People sharpen people.

I know a similar approach in Chicago. Totally authentic, super fun and building organically “tell me why it’s cool” founder Mary Doctor is awesome and also works with @Chris_Deutsch founder of Lofty Ventures. instagram.com/tellmewhyitsco…
This trend will soon take over the world. A while back I posted about Lectures on Tap — a bootstrapped NYC events business that is making millions of dollars hosting casual lectures for strangers at bars. An identical business is now blowing up in Toronto and they are SELLING out with their videos getting 100K+ views consistently. Great opportunity to build in the IRL experiences space.

Excellent idea and great for those farms. We would signup but have our own robust garden in the Berkshires.

This is an important discussion. I predict “marketplace” will have its time in the spotlight again before long. The reasons: 1) there are almost infinite everyday transactions (consumer and enterprise) that benefit from supply/demand factors and alignment of interests 2) the pendulum will swing soon when the current narrative changes 3) fundamentals always win out It’s imperative to support entrepreneurs with a longterm and big vision focus.

This is so cool. Can’t wait to jump on board @SeeMe
Excited to announce Concentrate AI’s $5.1M pre-seed! Todd Lieberman and I are launching Concentrate AI (the fifth company we've started together). Most companies are not in control of their AI spend or the data they’re sending to AI. @concentrateai solves that. Why are we building it? What problem does it solve? And why now?

Thanks for the shoutout @AKazlow ! For the record the Georgetown Angel Network is top notch. I should also mention that @scienceoncall is an awesome company and their co-founder @LuLuisaC is also an angel in @SeeMe.
📰Here are the "Angel Deals of the Week" from today's issue of The Diligent Observer: 1. Cellbyte | Felix Steinbrenner | @sprngbrd_angls 2. @SeeMe | @bbstepstone | Georgetown Angel Investor Network 3. @scienceoncall | Andy Freivogel | @CLTAngelFund 🔍Why These Deals are Interesting: Angel communities filter through hundreds, sometimes thousands, of opportunities each year. These companies represent the elite few that survived that vetting process and actually got a deal done. 📧Have a recently funded company you'd like to showcase? Drop me a note. 🔔Want to see more deals like this every week from angel communities around the world? Subscribe via the link below. ⬇️ thediligentobserver.com/p/an…

I spent time with Blackstone’s Global Head of Real Estate, Nadeem Meghji, today. I came away really excited about the scale of data center, energy and infrastructure development that the world will need and how we can work together to do it. I was also really impressed with what he and Blackstone have built and, more personally, that he also grew up in Canada before moving to the US, like me!

I actually thought it looked like a mashup between E Holmes and Greta Thornberg at first, no JCal resemblance for me. Two true fraudsters but not JCal.
