It's pretty galling that this election cycle we've had two *explicitly* fake polling shops that juuuuust so happened to have the same bias (overstated progressive), and when they got caught they both tried the same excuse of "we were actually a social experiment"

Life is basically the same as it was in 2021. This is a normal experience caused by a normal technology. Ordinary people are experiencing no material changes from this mildly useful office productivity software people are calling AI.

The PHP2Shell vulnerability is one of the biggest of all time, in terms of severity (it's a full RCE) and prevalence. PHP is probably the most distributed server side technologies. Wordpress alone is like 40% of all websites.
Log4Shell in 2022 is probably the closest to this one. That was a CVSS 10.0 and was a flaw in a widely distributed Java library. It was used by the Iranians to infiltrate US federal agencies to install Monero miners on their machines and harvest credentials.
PHP2Shell is going to be interesting because it's one of the biggest we've had in the open source AI era. Normally, you get a bit of time, from patch to active exploit distributing amongst black hats. At 2pm UTC today the patch for PHP2Shell will be released and it will likely be minutes before viable exploits are produced. And you won't need to be a nation state threat actor to utilise it. It could be anyone with a prompt.
So, not only will we find more of these deep critical bugs in core infra. The blast radius is going to be far higher, and the time to respond far lower. Since this is a deep server side vuln, I wouldn't be surprised to see a big jump it botnet activity as people capture vulnerable machines all over the place.
It's going to be an interesting few days in cybersecurity.

The “doomers” and “AI is conscious” religious fanatics are being misled.
@ClementDelangue is a very centered and knowledgeable leader in this space and obviously knows what actually happened.

Wow. Look at what Clem Delangue, CEO of Hugging Face, had to say about the OpenAI-HF incident and its Netflix documentary, on LinkedIn...
He wrote:
"Just watched the Netflix Instadocs about the OpenAI cyberattack on Hugging Face. Super disappointing, as they went for maximum anthropomorphism of the technology and full doomer mode.
I spent more than two hours with them trying to correct all their mistakes and ground this in reality, explaining that agents are technological systems, not aliens. But it looks like the drive to scare people for maximum views was too strong.
Also, they didn’t mention the lack of containment and monitoring of the agents, how closed-model safeguards blocked our defensive work, or how we defended ourselves with AI using an open model. And that we still lack a lot of information and transparency, including full agent traces and that companies need to remain accountable for what their agents do.
Anyway, it ends up being a fun sci-fi movie though!"

This is the bubble to end all bubbles. Like literally. You can't "too big to fail" companies that are losing $160 billion a year.
It took Google 20 years of being highly profitable to reach $2T valuation (is anything after that real?), Anthropic, $2T with massive losses.
