Jools Holland is interviewing Simon Le Bon about his favourite classical trax on Radio 3 atm which is, well, unexpected.

have a secret theory that Duran Duran are a surprisingly intellectual bunch, see also this from John Taylor:
big fan of this 2009 article by John Taylor of Duran Duran that sheds a whole load of light on this phenomenon news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertai…

Incredible thread and I agree with everything here. Give it a read. 🧵⬇️
Justification is the interesting thing here. The drug-addled finance bro deals with immediate intelligibilities: no school is needed to feel the power of money. His whole `career' deals in producing commodities, nothing more. It is a plane of rapidity because understanding is

so BT emailed saying that I need to call them to reconfigure my landline for Digital Voice Services. after 20 mins on hold they said they couldn't do this without me supplying a fresh email address that I don't already use for BT or EE. no I am not going to do that, just eff off.

Someone actually did the experiment with respect to burgers, and is turns out that what matters is the size of the patty: a sufficiently small one dries out before the mould can get to it.

As a 1st time Green Campaigner in Clapham in the locals, I noticed a very clear tendency for relatively disadvantaged voters to vote Green. Wealthier types voted Labour/Tory/Lib Dem

The goalposts have shifted massively. The establishment is desperate for the Green Party to be on the margins so Labour isn’t pressured into more left wing positions. They want rid of Zack and will find any pretext they can to talk up his resignation. Greens win that seat in 2029
I remember, not so long ago, Greens got c. 4% in a by-election, and my reaction was “well, at least it wasn’t totally humiliating”. The fact that some people think 33% in a longstanding Labour seat in the middle of the Burnham bounce is bad shows how far the party has come.

one thing I noticed about the local elections here in Tower Hamlets is that while the Bengali heartlands like Whitechapel stuck with Aspire, former Labour wards in mixed/gentrifying areas like Bow went Green while former Tory strongholds in yuppyville Wapping went Labour. >>

there's a similar dynamic in the Holborn & St Pancras result – minority ethnic and young professional voters backing the Greens while the right wing vote consolidates around Labour. this is gonna be a pattern in inner cities going forward I reckon. /fin
