As someone who has worked on national security vetting, the Trump Admin barring Somali referee Omar Artan entry to the US for the World Cup leads to more questions than answers.
Omar was vetted, approved, and issued a visa.
Then he landed in the United States and was suddenly deemed a national security threat.
So which is it?
Either the system failed, or someone changed the rules after the fact.
That's not how serious national security decisions should be made.
The public deserves to know what changed.

ICE detains man at Texas polling place during voting hours—now voters worried for midterms.
"It's intimidation against the voters," said witness.
"Are we now going to have to carry passports to be safe when we vote?"
At least 9 agents swarmed the parking lot where voting was taking place inside the library.
ICE does not accuse the man of trying to vote illegally—saying it was just an arrest that just so happened to be at a polling place.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar later arrived on the scene and told any federal agents to leave the polling area.
"Our officer left after realizing the marked unit might be an 'aggravating factor' for voters," he said.
"But I want to try and assure the general public that we want you to go out and vote."
Incident occurred at the Las Palmas Branch Library in San Antonio, Texas.

Today is ME/CFS Awareness Day.
I am a very severe ME/CFS patient. I have not left my mattress in around 9 years, and I have been sick much longer.
I cannot have visitors. I cannot watch TV. I can speak only very little with my caregivers. I can only read a few pages per day, sometimes less. I live mostly in darkness, in constant pain and physical discomfort.
There has not been a single day in the last 10 years that was not “ME/CFS Awareness Day” for me.
For millions of patients, this disease is not a campaign, a hashtag, or a yearly reminder. It is total life destruction, every single day.
What we need is not symbolic awareness alone. We need serious research, clinical infrastructure, political recognition, urgency, and your help.

Western Pennsylvania here! Photographer John Filo was from the local newspaper I would eventually work at--a member of the student newspaper he drove two hours to the office of his hometown newspaper in western Pennsylvania to process his film. initially he was told AP had plenty of Kent State photos coming in from its bureau in Akron an unexpected break in the transmissions happened & John jumped on the wire and sent his photo. His image of the grieving girl ran on the front pages of newspapers all over the world the next day. The caption identified her simply as a “coed.”
