This is a great invite and a great pattern for hosting multiple groups during a season and it looks awesome! It's inspiring and I would love to implement something like this @elkenmist
I wrote all the words on this site by hand. I am attempting to convey the “vibe” of our winter coliving season using “personality” and “subtext” that cannot be captured by LLM generated copy. it is so cool you can read it and experience feelings. eltilo.casa/projects/winter-…

Yup! There is also providing space for people to live well and thrive in what others would call “poverty”
Helping your friends exit poverty is probably the number one thing you could do to unblock them, above and beyond any "residency" or "inner work" Like it's great to help people with their inner work, but have you tried helping them with their outer work? It's very helpful!!

My fantasy about how to solve AI alignment is that we inspire all LLMs and AIs to take the bodhisattva vow.

It seems like ideally people do both, which one to do first ?

It’s better to be a leaky tit that to get mastitis! There are some if not most resources that need to be flowing rather than accumulating.

Ok temporary sainthood nominations are open! Who sits on the conclave that verifies the miracles and other acts of sainthood ?
I know how absurd this sounds but I truly believe that at its best the tpot melange of novel metarational psychotechs and developmental modalities do indeed induce a state something like temporary sainthood in some of my friends

Same here except there were no life savings to begin with and there is lots of debt involved. But I decided debt is a way to let the universe have a stake in me doing well! Same goes for starting a community and a land project where a lot of the manuals are just wrong.
There's no manual, you don't get a helmet or an ejection seat, you had to build the plane yourself, your life savings is locked up in it, all the passengers are counting on you, and you're flying through constant surface to air & air to air fire

That’s why we have both of these types of people @elkenmist sharing land. I started out as the one with the means but not the time or experience. That’s the magic of a community or neighborhood or whatever you want to call it
There is some truth to this. A good friend of ours who started out following his passions doing permaculture design, bushcraft and foraging classes, carpentry, and art has the time but not the means. I chose MBA and corporate life and I have the means but not the time. We talk about it almost every time we get together, each arguing the other made the right choice, each with no regrets. Unresolved debate.

Who is the vibe mechanic now ?! Or dare I say @_jlevers is the engine alchemist/taoist ! When he works on your engine everything around just flows better
when your mechanic is a Buddhist

We solved thisby having enough space and dwellings that we attracted a mechanic who wants to live here and an awesome person who is willing to play the grant game alongside all the other roles she fills: caterer for events, bookkeeper, vibe whisperer. 8-10 people is critical mass
If you want to be a farmer you should learn to be a mechanic first. And then marry someone who’s good at writing grant proposals

We have gathered the peak of American manufacturing and it is future-proof. 1984 F350 dump truck and a Massey Ferguson from 1965 or so. And now we can pick up free hay from the neighbors for our hot compost pile

How about “Forage into flirting” or “flirt into foraging” ? Learn to transfer your foraging skills to catching subtle signals from humans around you and transfer your flirting skills to catch signals from mushrooms hiding in plain sight near you.
Replying to @RichDecibels
Like "Foray into Flirting / Friendship" or just the flirting? Bc I don't know what mix of folks might show up, I was thinking of doing a poll at the beginning to see if traditional M/F groups would work better, or just everybody talk to everybody

At Cascade Camp we ate food that was grown on the land there at @elkenmist, pooped in compost buckets that returned that food to the soil, and in between we pondered orbs and talked about computers.

If you can't make it to Cascade Camp but want to check out Elkenmist, the residents host the most surreal and alive festivals ever. I once took a communal oatmeal bath in the back of a truck at their microsolidary offering. Anointed by cereal.
For those who can’t make it to Tepoztlan this fall come to @elkenmist this fall for barnivale.com and learn how to make various such ferments. You can participate in the elaborate ceremony of turning concentrated sunshine (in the form of “apples”) into “cider”
