Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been "directly" involved in 708 possessions (shot, pass, turnover, foul) this season defensively. Nikola Jokic has been in 1473. Luka, 830. Wemby 951. (YES, YES, I KNOW, MANY PLAYERS CHOOSE NOT TO CHALLENGE WEMBY THIS IS NOT SOME REVELATORY THING IT'S VERY IMPORTANT BUT EVERYONE KNOWS IT) So when you see lowlight clips, think about what a TINY sample of possessions that is. Those numbers aren't even the possessions where they make an impact positively or negatively but don't wind up directly guarding the end action. This is not to say your criticisms or praise of a player defensively is inaccurate, we probably agree. But the lowlight highlights across a season are NOT helpful or insightful. You have to take the ENTIRE body of work.
