Bro just started watching football in the 2020s.
Nobody will ever dribble like Messi. That is settled. But dribbling is not football. Football is the complete game. And that is why Lamine Yamal at 19 is the best young player the world has ever seen.
You just said what a lot of people are thinking but are too scared to say because of Messi's name. "Judging by this video, Lamine Yamal is even better than Messi was at his age." People got angry. They said it's disrespect. But it's not disrespect. It's just watching.
Messi at 19 was a miracle with the ball at his feet. He could beat 5 players in a phone booth. But he was still raw. He would dribble when he should pass. He would run into a crowd when the simple ball was outside. He was a wonderkid who played like a wonderkid. Pure instinct, pure dribbling.
Yamal at 19 does not play like a wonderkid. He plays like a veteran.
Give him the ball on the wing, with two men on him, like in that clip you posted. What does he do? He doesn't panic. He doesn't just put his head down and dribble.
He takes a touch to invite the defender. He looks up. In one second he has scanned the striker making the run, the overlapping fullback, and the midfielder arriving late. Then he decides.
Sometimes it's a dribble. Sometimes it's a trivela with the outside of the foot. Sometimes it's a left-foot curler into the top corner. Sometimes it's a pause, a fake, then a simple pass that kills the whole defense.
That is completeness.
At 19, Messi had one superpower: dribbling. At 19, Yamal has four: dribbling, passing, finishing, and decision-making.
He has already started and won a major international final. He has already been the most important attacker in his league. He has already scored in the biggest games. He has already carried a big team, not just played for one.
Other great young players had one thing at 19. One had finishing. One had power. One had speed. Yamal has everything, and he knows when to use what.
That is the difference. Messi had to learn completeness. It took him years to become the a playmaker and best dribbler and a scorer at the same time. Yamal started almost complete.
Messi will always be the greatest dribbler at any age. No one will touch that.
But Yamal is the greatest _young player_ at any age. Because he is not just a dribbler. He is a footballer. And at 19, he already plays like a 28-year-old Ballon d'Or winner.
That is why the world has never seen a 19-year-old like him.
Lamine fans need to get a grip what the hell is this take?
