On July 22nd I am hosting a webinar on automated incident mgmt with AI, together with the folks at @augmentcode!
That’s because I write a lot about my AI workflows with @tolariamd, but many people (rightfully) tell me that things are more complex in a real team.
So I invited the team at Augment to share how they transformed their own engineering org, redesigning their main dev workflows.
If you are interested you can RSVP here! streamyard.com/watch/CXnfrUn…

Your organization's token spend is off the charts because you've thrown everyone into the deep end and said "swim!". Of course there's deeply inefficient use of tokens, everyone is just doing their own thing.
They're running loops hoping for some outcome, running local code review on every change, have agents polling for PR comments on their laptops. Not to mention the sheer volume of duplicative context, internal skills, and other support systems they've burned tokens creating. And this doesn't even account for the skill gap of effective users versus novice users.
It's like the industry forgot 40 years of lessons learned on building efficient engineering teams and practices. Software engineering is a system, treat it like one and you might find tokens are actually worth the spend.

I'll be giving a talk at the Engineering Leadership Live event in San Francisco.
The talk is titled: AI-Native Engineering Leadership
I'll be sharing:
- What does it mean to be an AI-native engineering leader
- What has changed from 1-2 years ago
Code completion was just the warmup.
@grinich sat down with @mattmcclernan, CEO of @augmentcode, to dig into the real shift: from copilots to autonomous agents, and why context is the hardest problem in enterprise AI.
The conversation went places we didn't expect, including a furniture company leading the AI adoption curve.

@augmentcode 's Intent feels like my next big prediction.
Built 60+ specialized agents that take a product from idea to production:
research,
competitor analysis,
planning,
specs,
design,
development,
testing,
deployment.
You bring the idea. They do the work.

You know it's serious when your agents engage in thunderbird formation

Intent is crazy good @augmentcode

skip the design system software.
build directly from a design spec using Figma MCP and Intent.

with intent I have automated my job. now will2 sits at my desk and no one has noticed yet

I'm becoming very bullish on sandboxes for polishing uis
- ask for a new route that walks through all common and edge cases
- if helpful, loop through animations & transitions
- keep it side by side with the agent and ask it to take screenshots until it's smooth
- scroll through and dictate tweaks

Stop playing telephone between design and development: make a change in Figma, turn it to code in one app.

When agents write 100% of your code, how do you evaluate and hire technical talent? We've been asking those same questions at @augmentcode

Intent is truly one of the best coding tools I have used.
