I quite often feel like my reach has gotten far beyond what I can personally handle. I see random people post my cropped animations all over the internet, vagueposting about the horrors they witnessed because they clicked on my profile. I see people throwing the word goonslop and baraslop around. E-Zoid is overrated, E-Zoid is not niche. People suddenly talk about me like I make mainstream media. Many speak of me like product. Like the 600 hours spent at my desk are no longer personal videos to me. They are a 3 minutes of professional product to consume.
It’s all super fucking scary. How could I ever live up to that kinda standard? People critique industry animation on the internet all the time. I am so painfully aware of my own mistakes in art I‘d cry my eyes out if someone where to dissect my work publically with that kinda lense. And now I feel like I need to deliver to that degree or I wouldn’t live up to the image some enthusiastic people paint of me.
I don’t think I am a bad artist at all, but I could never be THAT good, you know? I am so lucky to have artist friends that make our animations look the way they do. I wouldn’t be here without them. I got a lot of passion and motivation to work and direct, but I am just factually not a pro. I have so much to improve on and I just feel like I‘m not that guy.
I usually try not to share my anxiety here, since this app is already so negative all the time, but I felt the need to at least speak up about my feelings once, so thank you for hearing me out.
I still love the work I do and I am unimaginably thankful I get to do this as a job. Thank you for reading my thoughts 💙
