RIP DHH
Guess what? His benchmark client code is dog shit too. You can’t trust the ports or the benchmark clients. What a shit show 😂 Remember folks: It has to be real ❌ It has be competent ❌ It has to be responsible ❌ All he did was 2025 like naive one shots+making YOU fix it

Analogous to this: I tried Omarchy but stopped using it because the window/desktop management is so different from every other OS that working with other systems becomes difficult (which I have to do). I prefer Omarchy’s Hyprland approach, it's easy to learn, but it conflicts and slows everything else down. Sad.
One tip for new programmers: Don’t learn, or at the very least do not become attached to, Vim controls—you will spend the rest of your life being profoundly unhappy

Every once in a while you work at a company that only hires people who know what they're doing, and suddenly its 20 people doing the same work as 400 somewhere else. There's zero meetings, everyone talks once a week on slack, and you go huh, how much garbage is there actually.

Quick observation about Grok vs Claude: Grok will power through a coding problem it's struggling with. Claude will give up.

I believe this is true, but for pretty much everything at this point. Make great stuff!
This is a huge indie art win. Hand distributed without a traditional big Hollywood distribution deal in place. This is nearly impossible but it shows the audience is not being served what they want by studios. Independents know better and can turn a profit even on a micro budget ($3.5 million budget).

AI demonstrates the sunk-cost fallacy perfectly: Just one more "this doesn't work!" prompt, you think, and it'll fix it!! But often it won't, and now you've wasted 30 minutes begging that you could have spent learning how to actually fucking do it yourself.

I didn't want this to be the start of my #TIFF50 , but you've managed to do it again @TIFF_NET! I was in line, with a signed in account, got to the front and then for no reason you kicked me out of the line. I had to open an incognito window and line up again putting me 600 people back. At this point, my main picks are gone. Okay, no worries, there’s loads of great options. So I start going through my tier B movies. I’m adding to my cart and then the cart was reset. I try to search using your “search feature“ and that doesn’t do anything. I try to limit the filters, but guess what? Those don’t update anything. Fortunately, browsers have built-in search which were my saving grace once I realized all the functionality you built does not work. Now I'm adding stuff to my cart and there's no way to get back to selecting movies. I mean, If there is a way, it’s not obvious and I'm not going to chance it because I don’t trust your janky platform to not kick me out so I have to got cart > continue shopping every time. Then, there was this one special moment where I selected a seat and then removed the selection and you deleted everything in my cart. Outstanding! Seriously, my offer stands that I will build you something better. Get off whatever you’re using because it doesn’t work and people like me who paid a premium and want to celebrate movies just get screwed because of your technical incompetence….still love TIFF, but despise your online platform.
Replying to @TIFF_NET
@TIFF_NET I love TIFF, but good lord your online ticketing platform has to be the worst thing I've ever experienced. The incredible part is how every year it actually gets more unintuitive, convoluted, error prone and difficult to use. Hit me up. I will fix this for you.

I don't know who needs to hear it but...
Please stop building SPAs. Just because your pages all have the same header and footer, it does not mean you have a single page app. Over 90% of the SPA projects I’ve worked on should not have been SPAs (and were markedly worse because of it).

I'm surprised how generally useful the Odin Book is for learning pragmatic low-level concepts. odinbook.com

The size of your dream. The quality of what you do. The peace you find. These are the truths that matter. Each feeds the other.

February 12, 2025: For posterity, in a coding context, AI is useful for quick ideas, fake data, and as a reference guide, but it doesn't do much else currently. However, I'm here for better search, so yay AI.

AI argues like many modern coders, making it good for reliving the days when you had to wade through arguments like, "this is modern and thus correct."
